They are in the 15th in Floridarrrrrr!
Braves still seem to be chasing a starter. I hope not. At least so far they seem to be only willing to pay a decent return like the q trade.
The pitchers are still likely a year away. I don't know if the braves will be patient enough
Dr Andrews writes about ucl not being at top strength until 24-25. If we really consider allard soroka Wright for the rotation next yr we might need a six man rotation to keep the innings down. Too young to do a full season of innings much less playoffs (a guy can dream)
Last night was my first time seeing Sims. He looked great from the beginning. I can see why some think he's suited to be a reliever, as he threw his best pitches when he got a little aggravated at the ump or fell behind the count. I was 4 rows up from home plate and he threw some filthy curves.

We may need to include Sims back into the top 10 (any maybe higher) of our prospect listing. His performance this year has been spectacular.

Crazy that Maitan hits his first pro singer, and all we have talked about for the last two pages are the pitchers. Great night on the farm

Not a very good day for Bryce Wilson
IMHO, he's not top 10 at all. He's improved and looks better, but I've been on him since Rome. A lot of improvement between the ears has helped. Always liked his stuff, never liked his demeanor. I've seem him maintain a little more focus and determination which he's even stated was a need for improvement. I think he's back in the discussion, but not top 10.
In his last five starts Sims has 43 strikeouts and 4 walks in 30 innings.

Yeah, but if we bring him up...what if he gave up THREE homeruns in ONE game....wait...
Home runs per fly ball (and here I'm not talking about fly ball %) is one of those things a pitcher has some control over. Certainly more than control over BABIP. But not a lot of control like strikeout and walk rates. So it occupies an intermediate place in my assessment of a pitcher. Home runs per fly ball is something that does regress significantly to the mean if it is unusually high or unusually low. So I'm not too worried that Sims has had a high home runs per fly ball rate in AAA. He will give up his share. But if he limits the walks and is striking out a lot of hitters, he's got a good chance to be effective at the major league level.
