Thethe is probably exaggerating a tad but scouts do like Wentz, especially since his fastball is back up to 93ish.

LOL I love it! Thanks thethe!

This chuckle will carry me through the last 10 minutes until I head out for lunch haha!

No, he isn't. This is how he consistently views Braves prospects.

That's what make it so damn entertaining haha.

Well there are 44 pitchers listed on the MLB top 100 list that was released today and Wentz wasn't on it. Wentz has been very good this year but you should probably slow your roll on the expectations a tad.

I am watching some of the Wentz game instead of working.. (thank god for robot tellers making my day easy)

But I am watching and here are a few thoughts. Wentz is HUGE.. or Yuge.. Tall, well built kid. But he doesn't seem to utilize it much. He crouches and then throws from a 3/4 slot.. Seems like he isn't consistent with delivery yet. His hook is more 11/5 not 12/6, so it misses outside to lefties some.

He is very projectable with his size.. but he is far from the best pitcher in the minors...

Seems as though the K's are up over his last 8 starts or so. Kid is improving and I think he's in our top dozen prospects.

Big framed kid too. Didn't realize he was 6'5

Dude is killing it in Rome at a young age with a massive project able body. Do people want to bet against him being considered a top 75 prospect by this time next year?

I think he should be top 100 pretty easily. Around 85 - 90.

I think he will be easily in most top 100s by the start of next season.

Wentz is still a ways off, certainly. But he was basically a 1st round pick who has pitched extremely well all year. You can't ask any more from his results. 'One of the best pitching prospects in baseball' is obviously hyperbole, but his ranking does seem to be lagging behind his pedigree/performance right now. I think he will probably be on top 100 lists if he keeps this up through the rest of this year.

I'm a little confused myself as to why he's still lagging behind a bit. I guess it's based on his velocity, I'm not sure.

Wouldn't being on the top 100 lists, even at the bottom, make him one of the best pitching prospects in the minors?

It's probably because he's had issues with his stuff declining. There are dozens and dozens of guys that throw 93 and haven't had that issue. It is a serious red flag. Just like Gohara is being held down by his injury and conditioning issues.

But he can't just be a solid MoR prospect. He has to be "one of the best 25 upside pitchers". He has to be Cole freaking Hamels according to pozzies.

Just like Swanson couldn't just be a solid MLB SS. He was compared to Jeter and Larkin by pozzies.

Just like Newk can't be a high leverage BP arm due to lack of command and a 3rd pitch. Pozzies insist he is one of the 2% of pitchers that harness control late, and will become Gio Gonzalez.

Just like Acuna can't simply be a great prospect, perhaps Top 2-3 in the game. Pozzies have to compare him to Andruw and Harper and Trout.

It's all just typical silliness by pozzies. Entertaining though haha.

I don't think I am a pozzie but believe in the Acuna hype.

So Acuna is on the Andruw/Harper/Trout level in your opinion?

I'm not ruling it out. He is 19 and hitting over .300 with 15 HR and 35 SB across 3 upper levels. Super athletic with a beautiful swing and great exit velo.
