    Dansby and bouncing back

This is no shot against Dansby or even the Braves. I've made my position known from the day they first promoted him so this isn't that.

But, I have been trying to remember a player who had as much hype that failed and ended up back in the minors only to regroup, come back, and have anywhere near the once hoped for results. Maybe it's just my memory but I am having a hard time coming up with examples.

From a Braves POV, the only ones who come to mind are pretty far off - Ron Gant (position change from 2B to LF) and maybe Jeff Blauser (bounced back and forth a good bit before finally sticking and having a decent career). But that's about it.

Outside the organization, I am drawing a blank.

I am sure there are some. Help me out here.

Shwarber was pretty awful this year.

Swanson needs to reset. I would not even bring him up in September.

Conforto wasn't nearly as bad as Dansby, but he was bad last year, was sent down, and was a stud this year

Yeah, there are plenty of recent analogues (which are mostly positive). The difference is the promotional hype, but that's an org problem and certainly outside Swanson's control.

Carlos Delgado struggled quite a bit in 1994-1995 with the Blue Jays and was demoted to sort things out. He went on to a very good major league career. I don't think Swanson's struggles this year are particularly ominous. But I have had a more tempered set of expectations about him than most people around here.

Conforto was at 96 wRC+ last year though. Swanson is at 52 this season.

Also different positions. No doubt Dansby was much worse, though.

Blauser wasn't hyped that much, at least not potential superstar. Justice was, and was at AAA for better part of 3 seasons. He must've been up before ultimately sticking. Swanson was hyped because he was #1 overall pick. Not worried either, but Enciarte alone was worth the Miller trade.

Yeah, I mean thats an ok comparison; though JBJ is pretty much an average hitter. Maybe turn out to be a hair above

Give me an .800 OPS at SS and I will be happy. I know he is a bit down this year.

Dansby wasn't exactly killing it in AA when he was called up last year though. That is one thing that is scaring me about his performance this season.
