The FO needs to step in and say if we are going to call the young guys up, you need to play them

Looking at our starters' stats and noticed this...
Sims' spin rate is the best on our starting staff
Sims = 2306
Folty = 2276
Julio = 2236
Newcomb = 2201
MLB avg is 2231.
How important is spin rate and can it help offset sims' velocity?
We need to be down 13-0 in 9th before we see Fried.
Coppy
Spin rate plus arm slot equals movement. Spin rate for fastballs only really matters for 4 seamers, and statcast shows he doesn't get good rise. All of those spin rates are essentially average.
Low spin rate for 2 seamers leads to sinking action.
He just doesn't have the stuff to be more than a back end guy. He is a notch or 2 below Newk, and several notches below Folty.
How did the change look today?
Why even have an 8-man pen when you refuse to use some of the guys (Morris, Fried)
Fried will be rusty big time before he gets a shot... he'll get ripped... he'll be back at Mississippi.
Sounds like Snit doesn't agree with the call up...
People who don't think the start was impressive is just dumb.
I mean, is he one of our more exciting prospects?...no. I expect young pitchers to have bad innings here and there. I want to see how they respond after they struggle. He went five scoreless innings after getting torched. That's impressive. Wisler and Blair would have given up more runs and been out of the game after three innings.
I do look at things in context. He didn't give up any more runs because balls were hit at people. Not getting strikeouts is a bad sign.
Despite Newk being frustrating to watch, I see some good signs.

Jeez...nobody is calling Sims an ace or anything close to that.
