It will likely get lost in the other milb thread from Sunday. But what do y'all think a full MLB season of Ruiz at 3B looks like?

William Contreras likely jumps onto Braves top 30 lists this offseason. Guy has mashed.

right now, playing everyday, .220 with 12 HR and 160 K. He's still a little young even though he's spent a lot of time at AAA, but I don't see him as a future answer right now.

Thanks. The power needs a bit more bump, and the OBP as well. Unlikely to add that at this point Id say.

Why would you expect him to K that much?

If he's playing everyday I would expect some frustration factor to enter his game as he fails leading to more hard swings and more hard misses.

In reality, especially with things as they stand now for the Braves with the mad dash to be competitive, if he struggles like I think he will, like he has, then he never gets a full season opportunity.

I'm getting ahead of myself, but I'm curious as to how the Rome and Florida OFs will stack up next season. Promotion of Ramos--who was killing it in the GCL after a so-so start--puts him in the mix as well. Lots of bodies.

Good point. Just my guess --

ROME: LF Jeffrey Ramos, CF Drew Waters, RF Raysheandall Michel
FLORIDA: LF Leudys Baez, CF Cristian Pache, RF Isranel Wilson

Writing that out actually makes it a little more clear why they didn't mind giving up Randy Ventura. Just not enough room.

Keller has got to be somewhere. Kid is killing the ball. Still fairly young too.

Yeah, I guess maybe a DH spot. I'm still not very high on him. His 2015 and 2016 numbers were just so bad. He also was still striking out 28% of the time at Danville this year.

    Don't You Know....

MiLB announces its players of the month for July. No Braves, of course -- it was a crappy month for most Braves farm clubs.

But look who earned the Carolina League honor:

Down East Wood Ducks (Rangers) center fielder Matt Lipka led the Carolina League in hits (38), RBIs (23), extra-base hits (17) and total bases (67) and finished second in doubles (10), slugging (.593) and OPS (.982). His average (.336) and home runs (five) were good for third in the league. His 67 total bases were 14 more than any other player in the league. Lipka, 25, was originally selected by Atlanta in Compensation Round A of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft out of McKinney (Texas) High School.

Yeah, I always forget these awards don't factor in age. I would default to the guy 5 years younger when the numbers are that similar.

I agree with Florida and that's a solid OF
I'd go with Ramos LF Cruz CF and Waters RF for Rome

Cruz may find himself back in Danville the way he's been struggling. Ramos, Waters, and Michel have all been much better.

Dansby playing 2B again tonight in Gwinnett. No idea what they're doing right now with him.
