I think Julio pitched better than them both if you include both halves in regards to consistency, plus FG had kid gloves on him (Teheran) when getting into the 6th inning. Understandable though because he hasn't pitched this many innings ever in a single season. Minor has done well, no doubt, but the latter half, it is like he is nonchalant out there and that troubles me. Medlen is not Maddox and never will be but he has similar bulldog mentality out there, Julio has it somewhat, but Minor does not. The stats will say this and that but your demeanor out there means as much as stats when crap hits the fan.

Julio will be better than both for sure but right now its pretty obvious that Medlen is our best pitcher. Need to either lock him up or trade him for two top prospects.

I agree, but I was saying the whole year. I trust Medlen more than anyone on the staff, then Julio is next in line, but you need Minor in the second slot and hopefully he brings it.

Depending on today, Minor could crush Medlen. Minor sits with a 3.2 fWAR to Medlen's 2.5. Medlen pitched great down the stretch and Minor was average. Minor has a healthy FIP advantage And has pitched more innings per start.

I hope he doesn't get locked up. Especially during the season. I think we will need him in the post season. I mean he seems like a good kid and that would not look good on his record.

3.48 to 3.39 isn't a healthy advantage. It's an advantage but nothing crazy. Medlen closed the gap quick with his great 2nd half.

It is over a full season. Obviously not compared to their first halves. If Minor has a near full fWAR advantage then I think it's fair to say a smidgen.

Second half of last year Medlen had a full fWAR advantage over Minor in the second half as a starter. If Minor is close to that this year, then I don't think my statement is wrong.

Minor gives up way too many long balls.

One knock on him. Strikes out a good number, walks few.

I think it's Medlen, Minor, Julio in that order.
No question about it in my mind.
Here's a thought though, if Hudson hadn't been injured and continued his season like he had been, would he beat any of those 3?

A full WAR over a half season isn't the same as a full WAR over a full year.

Julio has been better than both, but Medlen or Minor is close to judge.

    Meh, not really.

If he pitched tommorow, he'd be on short rest in Game 1.

I would venture to guess he only goes 5-6, at around 80-90 pitches but if they wanna overwork him, go for it.

He'd be 4th somewhere, and not Garcia.

No it's not, but thethe said better over the last year and a half. So that's what it is. You don't weight the second half of last year as being equal to the whole 2013 and double Medlen's 2nd half value.

I think we have to start questioning at this point what is Medlens "norm". He has had now two unbelievable stretches of a month+ ball. I still am of the belief that with the birth of his first child he wasn't ready for the season and as the year progressed he was acclimated to it more. Can't wait to see what he does in the postseason.

Huddy would have been in the first three. It would have come down to Minor/Julio and I think Minor would have gotten the nod in the divisional round.

Julio has the better ERA of the group, but his FIP and xFIP are worse. Only reason I won't say your statement is totally wrong is he's tied with Minor for SIERA so he isn't far behind in all advanced stats. Julio has done very well, but he's not quite on par with Medlen adn Minor.

Yeah, Julio will be better than both but I'd still rather have Medlen on the mound. Not too sure about Minor vs. Julio honestly. That isn't a knock on Minor I just think Julio is that good.
