I was told by many here the Paris Accords were not being held by any other nation and it was simply a punisment to the USA. And that global warming was a chinese hoax. And that China wasn't earnest in their statement about going for renewable energy.

I am all about that renewable energy. If there is one thing I support the government doing its pushing us towards renewable energy. We should be leading the world in this.

China is bigger than all of Western Europe (excluding Russia) combined in size and with all that solar power it is meeting just a smidgen less than 1% of their requirements while coal is being burned more and more.

False equivalency of reporting I guess.

Also the fact that government is the spearhead has something to do with it and not private companies (well government controls that as well)

It is a nice gesture of being in first (Trumpism) but to satisfied the needs of their population, they would need to cover half the country in solar panels and I don't think that would be enough.
