I'm shaking my head at the weakness being shown. Russia should be taking an economic bullet and be left in shock. What's been aimed at them will sting but it's not any kind of deterrent.

Currently you have some who say they need to keep the most severe sanctions (things like expelling Russia from SWIFT) to use down the road if Russia refuses to leave. Putin will see that as weakness. And it really is. It's western countries letting him have his way because they don't want to do anything that might cause their own people any discomfort.

Russia invaded a sovereign European nation and we can't even levy strong economic sanctions. If they invaded a NATO member would we come to their aid as the treaties demand? I'm not so sure at the moment.

Not excluding them from SWIFT is insanity. If they can still send and receive money from around the world then all the sanctions have a diminished impact.

Glad the media called him out on it but their motives are to push war.

One thing I'd like to see is Europe go on an almost war time footing to transition away from Russian energy. The only card Russia has to play with the west is oil and gas. And it's a powerful card. If you strip that away from them you could render Russia largely impotent.

Someone needs to just kill Putin. He's a cancer to the entire world. He doesn't have much time left. Only problem is who knows what happens with that power vacuum. Maybe whoever is strong enough to take it over will be even worse than Putin as they had to claw their way to the top.

There's a decent chance that Putin has literally gone insane. People inside Russia are (quietly) voicing that concern.

Putin is not crazy. These are all long term plans he has had. In 2 years Trump will win, concede what Putin has taken as a part of Russia now and now facing no need for reelection removed all sanctions on Russia.

That plan would confirm his craziness. You don't wager your nations economy on the hopes an unpredictable Trump gets elected and then sides with you. Just the risk of Trump having a heart attack or stroke in the interim is enough to make that risk insane.

Crazy? Putin waited until trump left the office to invade Ukraine. He knows Biden won’t do anything to stop him and trump would have. There’s nothing crazy in that scenario.

Putin isn't banking on Trump. Trump's base falls for Russian **** all the time. He's betting that Trump's base is his base and would fall for anything he does.

What would trump have done, withheld tickling Putin's taint and balls?

It still baffles me that there this is weird understanding from leftists that trump just did Putin's bidding for him yet they cannot state any examples

Cant give any examples. Like accepting Crimea as a part of Russia, giving Intel to Russia, trying to get Russia back into the G7. Yep, no examples.

Trump wasn't part of his plan, it's just a nice bonus for him. The damage has already been done, a significant portion of the US now favors Russia.
