Russia has experienced problems keeping its troops supplied. This is interesting in a couple ways.
First, they've had vehicles running out of diesel on the roads. This shows either terrible logistical planning or else corruption with generals selling fuel to line their own pockets and not having as much as they were reporting (a long tradition in that country). Either way it bodes ill. Logistics is something the.US is really good at and something Russia isn't. It's a massively overlooked ability.
Second, there are reports that Russian forces are not as well supplied as they are on paper. Again, corruption is rampant and it's not difficult to buy 5 missiles at $1 million a piece when you're budgeted to buy 20 and just keep the difference. The reports say this explains why Russia is hitting civilian buildings with precision guided munitions. It has an effect on people with minimal use of resources.
Third, the world wide ostracization of Russia has made it difficult to provide the resources they need. Russia can't just buy weapons or raw materials right now. The word is that Xi is pissed that he wasn't consulted before the invasion so even Russia's closest ally might be unwilling to bail Putin out.
It might end up being a time game. Outlasting Russia's ability to fund and supply a war might be what Ukraine has to do.
