It is interesting that the Nats did promote Robles. I would bet he begins next season at AAA, so this likely won't impact has service time in the end. However, it does mean he would have to stay down until almost June. It's probably worth it though if they think he improves their chances of winning in October.
why is this different than an Ozzie promotion. I am not saying this is a good move, but they are adding him to the 40 man roster, they are starting his clock and they are not in a playoff chase, and he is not eligible to play in the post season. Seems silly to promote him now based on what I have learned here.

Because they are contenders and feel he might give them a better chance at winning in the playoffs. Even if he does start the year in the majors next year, it makes way more sense for them to do it than us (assuming we're not just using this September as a showcase, and not planning on starting their clock).
EDIT: I forgot it's after Sept. 1st. My bad.

Actually, if I understand service time correctly, this is an even dumber move than the Braves potentially starting all of these guys' clocks in a lost year. From what I understand, playoff games do not affect service time. So, if the Nationals were going to do this, they should have done it on September 1st. Then they could have potentially had another weapon for the postseason run, and still could have kept him down at the beginning of next year to keep his clock in tact.
Fedde and Robles are promoted to fill in for injured players. Robles was called up because they are down Eaton, Godwin, Harper, and Raburn. Werth has an injured shoulder and is going to be limited. They want a backup CF to try to keep Difo from having to play CF. There other OFers are either poor defenders (Kendrick, Lind), or suck (De Aza, Bautista). The OF right now is De Aza, Kendrick/Lind, and Taylor. Heck, they probably should start Robles.
FWIW, by all indications, there is a good change Robles is a starting outfielder for the Nats next year.

So the acquisition of a future rotation (Wentz, Wilson, Wright, Allard, Soroka and take your pick among Harrington, Walker and, yeah, Gohara) is a different rebuild? Or is it not part of the rebuild because it runs contrary to your argument? Or are all of them overrated? I will say Stewart's incompetence jump-started the rebuild. I will also say that if we don't get Swanson, we don't trade Simmons which would have been fine with me.
I'm not sure I understand. My point is that the rebuild "inherited" a couple very valuable guys. Actually our top 2 prospects. And that it would be clearly a failure without those two guys and the gift trade with Dave Stewart.
We've added a lot of good pitching prospects since the rebuild got started. I like some of them quite a bit. But absent Acuna, Albies and the guys from the Dave Stewart trade, the outlook would be for a very long process before the team would be ready to enter a competitive window.
