Hollandsworth just verified the Marlins thought they could have success vs Folty with LHers. They were right.

Folty is another guy without a change, and therefore can't get opposite handed hitters out.

You might as well just convert Folty to a ROOGY after this season.
Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.

Can folty be a high leverage reliever by just completely airing it out?

There is still a chance none of the first wave pitchers make it as starters: Folty, Newcomb, Blair, Wisler, Fried, Jenkins, etc. It would be nice if one of them put together a few 2-3 win seasons.

Being better than Wisler isn't much of a compliment. Just like the other guys with good stuff, he deserved a chance to see if he could figure it out.

I thought he would. I was wrong.

The Braves have Julio as a 2-3 win guy and not much else. And Julio's stuff is declining to the point where he won't even be that much longer.

I guess they could build one hell of a BP if it's any consolation.

Hey the royals had an impressive run with the strength of the team being the pen. Maybe we build our pitching staff around a big time pen.

No. Fastballs that are straight will get destroyed.

    Folty looks hurt

Maybe not, maybe he just threw 5 straight cutters

Yeah it was hard to tell but he pumped one up to 98 after I was worried. The slow "fastballs" he threw had 8 inches of break compared to his normal 4.

But they broke like sliders or cutters at 88-91. I don't remember ever seeing him throw that pitch.
