Around Baseball - 2013 Postseason GDT Edition

Anything postseason related involving other teams... basically a GDT and news.

Note of interest, both teams playing today (Tampa-Texas) are playing with 37 man rosters (regular season September rules).

That was a dumb play by Jennings to start the game.

    Did the announcers just compliment Escobar? But I thought . . I mean . . . isn't he . . . uh . . .

To be clear, Escobar had played out his string in Atlanta, but if anyone anywhere actually thinks Sea Bass was a better player in any way shape or form, they are totally out of their minds.

I saw that highlight from earlier this season. Escobar doesn't always stay dialed in, but when he's in the moment, he's a pretty good shortstop.

Esco is still one of the best defensive shortstops in the American league. But I'll take Simmons over him and every other shortstop thank ya very much.

BTW, that was a horrible call for strike three (and the first out) on A.J. Pierzynski of Texas in the second.

Man, that Texas jet stream is crazy. Did y'all see that homer by Longoria? Mac is going to love Texas. He should hit 30 homers a year easy there.

I'd rather have Simmons as well, but I wish we would have gotten more for him that Alex Gonzalez.

They missed it using six umps too, that's embarrassing but nothing new.

I don't even see how that can be called a trap. The ball bounced two or three inches in front of Martin.

Good point by the announcing team on post-season rosters. Why don't they just designate 30 guys who could be active for the post-season and then allow for adjustment between the series?

Really want the Rays to take this. I've always been partial to them.
