    9/24 GDT

Gohara's fastball lost about 1.3 MPH in his last start. He has thrown 140 innings this year after throwing just 70 innings last year, which is a huge jump in workload.

Gohara should not be pitching anymore this season.

The Phils have stacked the lineup with RHers. Gohara needs to use the change often.

    93, 92, 94, 95, 95, 95, 95 on his first 7 FAs. Average of 94.1 mph.

Early on he is down another 1-2 mph from his 95.9 in his last start, which was down 1 mph from his first 2 starts.

Hopefully he perks up as the game goes along.

I was looking at his splits in the minors. He's done pretty well against righties. Will be interesting to see how he handles today's lineup.

Stealing in front of a guy with no power like Markakis is smart. Stealing in front of the only legit HR threat in the lineup is not smart.

The Braves don't steal when it's smart to do so, and do steal when it's not smart to do so.

    In the second: 93, 94, 94, 94, 95, 94, 96 (lost up and away arm side), 94, 93. Average of 94.1 mph.

Either the tv gun is off, or Gohara's velocity is way down for a second consecutive start. This is not the Gohara I was excited about after his first 2 starts.

Agreed...and it would be wise to shut Folty down, too. As of right now, he has one more scheduled start, but why do that?

For the last 8 games, just go with this:
    Sims
    Fried
    Dickey
    Newcomb
    Teheran
    Sims
    Fried
    Dickey

Just cut the game on and didn’t look at the lineup earlier...I missed last nights game as well, any particular reason why Ozzie isn’t starting?

Pretty sure just a day off. They've been rotating Camargo in at every infield position.

He's clearly fatigued from the workload this season- but no reason not to remain excited about him going forward. I agree he ought to be shut down for the remainder of the year, though.

In the 4th Gohara is starting to work in the change. Threw a good one to Hernandez that he followed up with a 95 fastball that absolutely ate him up.

Another decent one to K Altherr.

Pretty good one down first pitch to Hoskins even though he didn't offer.

2-0 change to Joseph for a swinging strike...nice.

He missed his spot pretty badly with the rest of them.

This is what we need to see Gohara working on. Developing the change is the most important thing for Gohara going forward.

Hopefully the velocity decrease isn't a problem.

This is a pretty good hint that the Braves ignore all rhyme or reason. They in all likelihood ruined Beachy and Medlen's careers by not imposing inning limits on them as they were transitioning to starting. And here they are, doing it again with another pitcher. Ignoring the idea of safety.

If Gohara tears his UCL due to this in the future, we should all be very angry at the Braves.
Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.

It certainly is reckless management of a valuable asset.

He has undoubtedly been told to work on his change to finish out the year, and he is. Problem is he should be working on it next year in AAA, not at the end of a huge workload increase.

The pressure on the FO to win next year has caused them to push Gohara too fast...a common occurrence over the last calendar year.

Only took The broadcast braintrust watching 4 Gohara starts to finally start talking about him having 2 different sliders. It was evident 20 pitches into his MLB career.

Joe has got to have some of the most hilarious suggestions i've ever heard.

Sure, why not, lets just let Jace be a catcher!

Why the hell did Gohara hit there? He threw 5 good innings and probably shouldn't have started at all. We had RISP and you decide that one more inning is THAT important for this kid when he already has thrown too much this year... Come on Snitker...
