Just say no to Kemp, especially with Snitckers as Manager.

What if several veteran players lobby to keep Kemp. For protection.

Kemp appeared in 115 games. I won't say "played" because of his limited limited skill set due to poor leg conditioning. IMO, he played at about an 70%. Bad legs limited his effectiveness both in the field and AB and another year of age on those poor legs would cause even more ineffectiveness.

Any lobbing could be put aside by the addition of a more effective "protection" type player. There are many other OFer who could/would provide better protection than Kemp. His .781 OPS really doesn't say much about "protection". Ozuna or Yelich provided far better "protection" numbers than did Kemp. And both played in at least 40 more games.

Looks like the Giants are pushing hard. Heliot Ramos is a very good prospect. They probably won't have to add much to Ramos to get it done.

Helio should get someone to redo the "Stelio Kontos" song from American Dad using his name instead. That would be the best walkout music of all time

Betcha Ramos, Beede, and offering to eat all the money isn't enough.

Boston offers JBJ, Groome, and Chavis and it's all over. Jeter might even eat some of the money in that scenario. Benintendi moves to CF, Stanton plays LF, and Boston signs Hosmer.

Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

Any Stanton trade will almost certainly involve the Marlins eating salary after the opt out in case Stanton tanks and becomes an albatross.

The Marlins should be able to get good prospect value in exchange for gambling on Stanton opting out.

I bet he goes to Boston. They really missed the "boomer" this year without Ortiz.

They offer will have to start with Groome or Benintendi, though.

Looks like Boston prefers to spend cold hard cash on JD Martinez and Santana.

    Good call on their part.

I still think Stanton ends up with the Cards in exchange for Grichuk/Piscotty and a pitching prospect with the Marlins eating cash after the opt out.

Hope it’s for Grichuk so we can get Piscotty

Could be for both, which would allow the Braves to target an Ozuna/Prado package.

I think the Giants get Stanton and the Cards get Ozuna. Or the other way around.

I bet the Giants resort to signing Cain because they don’t have the prospects to acquire a star OFer via trade.

They could be in on some of the Card’s excess OFers too since they should be much cheaper to acquire.

That's why I think they get Stanton. With him they can compensate to some extent for lack of a farm system by being willing to take on financial risk.

Kemp has gotten really old really fast. He was never a gazelle, but it's painful to watch him run (or attempt to run).

I just don't see what the Giants have to offer for Stanton that's all that enticing. I mean I guess having the ability to absorb the entire contract if required, though that would likely put them over the luxury tax threshold right?

Ramos (their first round pick) is going to shoot up some of the lists. I'd be very happy to take him if I were the Marlins.

They should easily get more than that in an offer. Despite the contract, Stanton still holds quite a bit of value. Reportedly, they are asking for quite a substantial package in exchange for Stanton.
