Yeah ... written by Mark Bowman, who was only penning that **** because he was told curry was involved.

Nah, I remember more than just him. Rosenthal, IIRC.

Jeff Wren says that Bill Shanks was John Schuerholz's "pit bull in the media"

I feel like that's giving Shanks entirely too much credit as a journalist.

Just reading through the thread, as long as it's banned signings for 2-3 years, and **** like that, ok. If the 8th pick is banned, and losing international prospects then we're in deep ****.

I'd rather get a young, upstart guy like McLeod, but i'm guessing they'll hire Moore.

Jeff Wren's accusation of Bowman publishing lies to gain favor with the organization shouldn't really be surprising though. It's obvious that both he and DOB have little journalistic integrity and simply sip at the tit of the organization to pay their bills.

It's funny to me when I see Shanks cited as this noble local reporter when all I can think of is he living with his grandma cycling through his various porn subscriptions.

    Shanks can go to hell

Well, Bill Shanks is a bitch, so it makes sense.

    Passan with the exposé: https://sports.yahoo.com/john-coppol...230643724.html

Last year, a prominent agent received a phone call from a 770 number. On the other end was John Coppolella, the general manager of the Atlanta Braves. He wanted to talk about one of the agent’s clients. The agent found this particularly curious, not because the Braves liked the player but because he was playing for a different organization and it was August, a full 2½ months before he would hit free agency. Never before had he seen a general manager so blatantly disregard tampering rules.

    [...]

The Braves’ troubles could extend far deeper, according to sources. The investigation remains open and is expected to look into the signing of top prospect Kevin Maitan, a 17-year-old shortstop who received a $4.25 million bonus last year. If improprieties are discovered with Maitan’s signing, he, too, could be declared a free agent, according to multiple sources.

More Passan: Coppolella earned scorn from peers by ignoring the be-seen, not-heard industry convention and relying upon friendly media relationships to bolster his public reputation. His tenure as Braves GM eventually descended into chaos, with discord in the organization building and, eventually, erupting as anonymous accusations against him led to the investigation that forced his resignation, according to sources.

    Well **** those guys too.

I don't have sympathy for people that complain about people doing the same thing they do, just louder.

I don't know what we could have done that compared, though. It's not like we were under some sort of restriction for signing bonuses last year.

I actually liked how open to the media JC was. His tweet Q&A’s and in person Fan Q&A’s.

So we are probably going to lose Maitan.

I may be out after this.

Accusations of bundling in Latin America, under-the-table benefits given to at least one draft pick and pre-draft deals struck months in advance – the latter two of which the league continues to investigate.

    Ohh hell..

    Per Passan

Sources: MLB is investigating Atlanta's signing of top prospect Kevin Maitan. If improprieties are found, he could be declared a free agent.

Sources: Braves GM John Coppolella resigned after MLB found the team bundled international signing bonuses.

    https://yhoo.it/2wtTPta

There’s an allegation (which the player’s agent denies) that Coppy offered a car to draft pick Drew Waters to get him to sign for slot.
