Sims, Cabrera, Peraza Make BA's Sally League Top 20

Sims #9, Cabrera #10, Peraza #16. Rome had our best prospects this year. Maybe our Top 3, though Bethancourt might belong there. A little surprised Sims was not ranked higher.

    The top 5 were:

    1. Eddie Butler RHP Rockies
    2. Tyler Glasnow RHP Pirates
    3. CJ Edwards RHP traded to Cubs from Rangers in the Matt Garza deal
    4. Raul Aldaberto Mondesi SS Royals (not Raul Mondesi Jr, who is in the Rays system)
    5. Rosell Herrera SS Rockies

I don't get that. Sims has been highly rated by almost everyone. Odd.

I'll take it. Hard to project 19-year-olds. Having 3 in the Top 20 is a real plus. Should be a nice team in High A next season.

    Good point.

The A+ team will be a lot of fun to watch. Wonder if Hursh goes there or goes the Alex Wood route. I have a feeling he will be in Lynchburg unless he has a dynamite spring like Alex had.

Wow! I forgot about Hursh. I think you're right in that spring training will dictate his destination. I'm guessing High A because I don't know if he's as far along as Wood was.

Wood in Rome in 2012 put up these numbers 53 39 14 52 with an ERA of 2.22

Hursh this year put up these numbers 27 20 10 15 with an ERA of 0.65

I agree that where Hursh goes will depend on spring training. Alex was very impressive in spring training this year.

Another potential factor is that Mississippi probably won't be a very good team next year. They might prefer that Hursh play his first full season on a winning team.

    What about the repitoire?

I think Wood was more polished at this point in their careers. Does Hursh have an above average pitch aside from his plus fastball?

Sorry for the OT, but Raul Mondesi is on some old George Foreman ****.

That's probably the thing. Hursh has a plus fastball, but Wood had his whole array of pitches in place when he hit the pros. My guess is they have to "build" Hursh a bit.

Wood had the changeup last year. But he picked up the knuckle curve in spring training from Venters and Kimbrel.

Still one more pitch than Hursh reportedly has right now. Hopefully that will change soon enough.

Anyone with a BA membership want to share what was discussed in the chat Braves related?
