I actually don't recall anyone who thought he would sign for more than his projected arbitration number, but I do think you are right that some people felt he might have some trade value.
From talking chop after his release: "Adams put up 115 wRC+ and 1.3 fWAR in 314 PAs with the Braves, and was projected to earn about $4.6 million in arbitration per Matt Swartz/MLB Trade Rumors."
Depending on the reachability of the various incentives, his contract has a fair market value somewhere between 4 and 4.5 million. So he's just under the projections. Lot closer to his arb value than 3 million though. He was more or less worth what he would have been paid and it would have been defensible for the Braves to keep him, but he sure did remain a pretty bad fit.

Got to love these organizations sending the boys over the top one more time just like the British at Gallipoli
Or like Hitler moving his pretend Armies around on the map in the last days in his bunker

The Giants are a hot mess. They are fun to play with in MLB the Show in terms of tearing down and building their team through prospects and trades in franchise mode.
Talk of them signing Jay Bruce as well.
For them, it is just about making the wild card and then hoping Cueto and Bumgarner are elite. If they get that, anything can happen. It does look like it will crash pretty hard at some point, but they absolutely have no reached the end of their window. It's getting close though.
Legendary broadcaster Dick Enberg, who was doing Padres games over the past couple or so years, has died at age 82.

The closer I look at it we're in a situaiton to take advantage of the 3B market. We're one of maybe 7 teams who are remotely involved.
Royals- They could bring Moose back, but I doubt it. They should just take all of this picks and start the rebuild
Yankees- Andujar would be fine, but they might decide to move him in a package for a pitcher and could take Moose or Frazier
Mets- I think the Mets would be a good fit for Frazier, but they don't have the money
Phillies- The Phils would make sense for Moose or Frazier since they're trying to spend some cash, but they're also stuck with Franco
Padres- The Pads have Headley and Solarte but they are always a wild card to do something odd
Cards- The Cards could go for Moose or Frazier and flip Gyorko or Matt Carpenter, but it would only make sense if they go for Moose on a longer deal.
Who knows what is going to happen, but I think we're in a good position to get Frazier on a 2 year deal, Gyorko on his 2 year deal with an option , or Solarte on his 1 year deal with option

#Yankees #Pirates close to deal that will send Gerrit Cole to the Yankees….Gleyber Torres will NOT be part of the trade according to a #Pirates source
Now there are rumors the trade is potentially Frazier/Andujar/Adams for Cole/Harrison.
That’s a pretty even trade, but I’d still chalk it up as a win for the Pirates.
