That package that the Pirates sent was easily beatable for us in my opinion. Hearn is a nice prospect, but I think Muller has just as much value as him. The second guy is said to be lower tier so if we just threw in two lower tier guys we beat that package and get a cheap controllable reliever. I would do that deal in a heartbeat for a young, controllable, really productive reliever who has spent his career in a major hitter's park.

Ziegler to Dbacks. He would have looked good here.
Go get him!

Sounds like the Rays are getting a significant player as the ptbnl in the Archer deal? Could it be Travis Swaggerty?
thank you weso1!
Kapler has helped turn the Phils into a contender after being mocked early in the year. I don't hear much mocking anymore...
This is a quote from this article, and is the exact type of attitude I would be looking for in a manager:
https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/mana...ng-the-course/
"We support our players by providing them with small, digestible nuggets of information. Our players are smart and very well-equipped to take that information and translate it into on-field success. Perhaps as a result, they see an extra pitch or steal a strike. Added together, up and down our lineup, we seek to score an extra run here and aim to prevent one from crossing the plate there. We have confidence that the preparation of our team of coaches and executives to track down the information and communicate it, and the preparation of our players to incorporate and execute on it, leads to wins over time."
"I am a victim, I will tell you. I am a victim."
"I am your retribution."

Kapler is still a joke. They should have been a solid team with the improvements they made this past off-season. But they've been extremely lucky so far as well. They will fade and people will go back to mocking Kapler again.

I made fun of him calling for a pitching change without having anyone warmed up in the pen.
And over-managing his bullpen to such a great extent that he put a position player on the mound in the first series of the season.
I suggested that might not be sustainable and to his credit he stopped doing it.
I don't recall anyone saying much about him since he did those things.
I think its nice that he is interested in stats and tries to implement them though. I wouldn't mind more of that in Atlanta.

Luke Ray even walked and scored a run, he needs to keep living right.
Yea, he had some legitimate blunders early on, and was criticized for them. I also personally mocked him for all the Roided-Out MeatHead magazine covers for which he’s posed in his career. But he’s seemingly done a much better job since those early blips, and it’s refreshing that he both values marginal advantages and trusts his players are smart enough to leverage that marginalia effectively.
"For all his tattooings he was on the whole a clean, comely looking cannibal."
Greg Holland officially released. I’d like to see the Braves sign him to a minor-league deal, send him to Gwinnett, and tell them they’ll add him to the roster 31 August if he can show them something in AAA over the next month.
