Yo-Yo Ma played a private hospital show for the adult Turpin children
For years, police say David and Louise Turpin's children were tortured and deprived of basic necessities. But recently, some of them got to experience something few people have: a private concert from a world-famous cellist.
Yo-Yo Ma visited the seven adult Turpin children in a California hospital on Friday for an impromptu performance,... The adult siblings are turning to music therapy to help them heal. Ma was in Corona for another event and "heard about their interest in music," Uffer said.

Fox Networks Group’s ad sales chief, Joe Marchese, is setting a lofty goal for the broadcast network: reducing TV ad time to two minutes an hour by 2020.

Mr. Marchese announced that target at a private industry event it hosted last week in Los Angeles, where advertisers, buyers and executives from rival media companies discussed TV advertising’s woes.

Bringing commercial time down to only two minutes would be a major change. In 2017, the average amount of ad time an hour on broadcast was a little over 13 minutes, according to Nielsen. On cable it was 16 minutes.

This is for all of the Fox channels, not just Fox News. They've already tested it with FX on demand.

By now, most people are familiar with the term “school-to-prison pipeline," the description of a system that funnels troubled students through disciplinary program after program. Detentions, suspensions, and often expulsions further aggravate many students' already difficult lives, and send them “back to the origin of their angst and unhappiness—their home environments or their neighborhoods,” writes Carla Amurao for PBS’ Tavis Smiley Reports.

Police decide to do raids on low level marijuana dealers downtown. And by by raid I mean walk around asking blacks And homeless people to buy weed. Unless you just want to believe that they caught 47 people for felony selling marijuana and 46 were black. I know what your thinking, well that's not 100%. The one and only white person caught approached the cops attempting to sell while all the blacks were approached by the undercover cops. Now why is this good news? The public defender if the year called the mayor. The mayor said that is bull****. Calls the DA and tells them to **** off with their charges. Then she called the police and told them to cut that **** out marijuana should be legal go suck on a donut.

Black man framed by police and prosecutors to a life sentence studies the law in prison, gets a confession out of a police officer, the prosecutor goes on the run when news breaks and kills himself as police close in on him, and the judge was removed from the bench and later semt to prison on thef charges. These ****ers frames the wrong black man.

The Senate passed the final version of a sweeping opioids package Wednesday afternoon and will send it to the White House just in time for lawmakers to campaign on the issue before the November midterm elections.

The vote was 98 to 1, with only Utah Sen. Mike Lee (R) opposing it.

The bill unites dozens of smaller proposals sponsored by hundreds of lawmakers, many of whom face tough reelection fights. It creates, expands and reauthorizes programs and policies across almost every federal agency, aiming to address different aspects of the opioid epidemic, including prevention, treatment and recovery.

It is one of Congress’s most significant legislative achievements this year, a rare bipartisan response to a growing public health crisis that resulted in 72,000 drug-overdose deaths last year. It marks a moment of bipartisan accomplishment at an especially rancorous time on Capitol Hill as senators debate Brett M. Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court.

35 States Tell the FCC to Get Off Its Ass and Do Something About Spoofed Robocalls

A bipartisan coalition of 35 attorneys general signed a formal request today for the Federal Communications Commission to do something about all the damn spoofing robocalls that have driven us all to basically stop answering our phones ever.

Seriously, I just got a spam call as I was writing this.

Last November, the FCC created the 2017 Call Blocking Order, which is supposed to provide phone companies a means of weeding out and blocking robocalls. But a group of concerned attorneys general have observed that the robocall issue is getting worse, despite the order.
