1964: The Yankees fire manager Yogi Berra.
1964: Johnny Keane resigns as Cardinals manager.
1966: Tigers interim manager Bob Swift dies of cancer at age 51. He took over for Charlie Dressen, who suffered a heart attack in May before he passed late in the Summer.
1967: The Red Sox Dick Williams is named Manager of the Year.
1971: The Pirates defeat the Orioles in Game 7 to win the World Series.
1978: The Yankees defeat the Dodgers 7-2 in Game 6 to win the World Series.
1979: The Pirates defeat the Orioles 4-1 In Game 7 to win the World Series.
1985: Lou Piniella replaces Billy Martin as Yankees manager.
1987: In Game 1, The Twins beat the Cardinals 10-1 in the first World Series game played indoors.
1989: Before Game 3 of the World Series between the A’s and Giants in San Francisco, a major 6.9 earthquake strikes the Bay Area. Candlestick Park would be evacuated and the Series is indefinitely postponed.
2000: The Yankees win another AL pennant with a 9-7 win over the Mariners.
2005: An out away from their first pennant, The Astros are stunned by Albert Pujols’ three run homer, giving the Cardinals a 5-4 win.
