Yeah, I think that has been the case for the last few years. JJ Cooper at BA continually raves about him.

That's a pretty strong list. We'll get to add an 8 pick to that also. I've always been a big fan of Riley since we drafted him, if he can have a huge year in AA next year we could see him up at the end of the year.

I'm not sure why it would be a shock to anyone (Riley). He has hit every single year since being drafted and reports on the defense have improved.

That does seem rather high on Riley. I like Riley, but it seemed like since we knew he was a 2nd half player we bumped him up to MS to get some prospect helium and that is just what is happening.

If he starts to garner more attention I could see using him as trade bait. I'm not saying that because I think he's not going to pan out, but moreso that he is going to have some ups and downs like all young power hitters do and we have a hole at 3B now.

It's shocking because this is the outlier in Braves system rankings. No one else has him this high.

The strike outs are high, there are still bat speed questions and plenty of concerns about whether or not he can even stick at third. Maybe it all gets fixed, and he's certainly an interesting prospect, but saying that it shouldn't be shocking that he's #6 is just off base.

What's shocking to tehteh is that all the Braves prospects aren't tied for #1.

He is also shocked that AJax, a clear Top 100 guy, didn't make the Braves Top 10.

A Top 100 guy not even cracking the team's Top 10 makes him very excited about the Braves system!!

Kinda helpful to be a subscriber - when you read the report instead of quoting what you read a year ago, you find that that's apparently not the case. Only because people continue making that statement...

"Riley has embraced the Braves' focus on improving his nutritional habits. He appears slimmer, stronger and quicker than he was when drafted. He also has shortened his swing and improved his bat speed, helping him to more consistently get to his plus power potential and alleviating concerns about his now average hit tool. Riley's biggest improvement has come defensively. He has alleviated fears he would need to move to first base and is now an above-average third baseman. His plus-plus arm is still his calling card, but he also improved his first-step quickness."
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

Soroka and Gohara have a chance to turn into a really great duo at the head of our rotation.

The guy on the BA list who I think is a bit underrated is Pache.

These lists are becoming like those power rankings that fluctuate every time the wind blows. In it for the long haul.

Doesn't matter, he will be the best starter for the Braves once he reaches the majors and gets some seasoning under his belt.

The K-rate on Riley is a bit of a red flag. That said, he's made adjustments as he's moved up. I don't know how one puts a ceiling on him at this point. I'm not as bullish on him as most of his supporters.

Don't necessarily agree with the order, but I can't disagree too much with the names in the Top 10. I'm not high on Riley, but a career .820 OPS from a guy that has been 2-3 years younger than the league average his entire career deserves recognition no matter what scouts say about his bat speed or defense. I might remove Riley and put another pitcher at #10, though I completely understand the argument to include him.

I personally think now is the time to sell high on Riley if the Braves want to include prospects in deals for MLB players. He may be the most valuable position prospect not named Acuna/Maitan, and he may be required in a big time trade since teams won't want a package of only pitching.

The BA write up of Maitan is not kind at all. LH swing wasn't good in Danville and bat speed questions there. Lot of swing and miss, and the obvious questions about him gaining a lot of weight since signing. They said he reported to instructs at 210, which was lower than he played at in Danville.

I get the feeling that Kyle Wright could explode next year and reach elite status.

It will also be a big year for Ian Anderson. He'll either step it up or his stock will start falling. Even if he has just a good year his stock will take a hit due to the start of prospect fatigue.
