    Girardi

How do you guys look at him as a manager?

No way he’s worse than snitker... wish we had waited to name a GM before extending snit
    Swanson sucks

This board’s stat gurus need to come up with a formula for manager WAR. Not sure how you could do it, but it’d be a cool idea to kick around come up with different ways

He had Judge batting 2nd which I agree with and didn't think I'd ever see.
They had a great year in a "rebuild" year. Something else must be going on. They were a game away from being in the WS ffs.

Girardi going home to be with his family. I expect him to take a few years off before getting back into the game. At this junction the only way Girardi was going to stay managing was if it was with a New York team, and for whatever reason Cashman and him fell out of graces. Be interesting to see what happens to Cashman.

I've always liked him and am a little surprised by the move (not knowing if he was fired or just moved on). I'd prefer Girardi to Snitker. Like others here, I expect he'll be back in the game after a year or so of kicking back. Wouldn't be surprised to see him on one of the national baseball shows/broadcast teams.

Nationals. It would be so Zombie Expos for him to go there, and I'd think they would be interested.

Someone said that while Girardi's relationship with his players wasn't broken, it was strained and not where management wanted it to be. Very strange.

At least Girardi knows where the phone to the bullpen is located. I don't think Dusty has ever picked up the receiver.

It was decided before the playoffs started.

I have no idea if Girardi is smart or not. I have no idea if moves like Judge #2 or his modern BP usage in the playoffs was his idea, or mandated by the analytics group in the FO.

What I do know is the end result had the Yankees best hitter in the 2 hole, and the BP was handled nearly optimally. I also know he did a pretty good job juggling high priced players/egos throughout his tenure in NY.

No matter how that came to be, Girardi is better than Snitker or any other OBP-denier dinosaur the Braves are likely to hire.

I agree. Girardi is a solid manager. I wouldn't be upset if he replaced Snit next week. I think ex players like Girardi get unfairly tagged as not analytical enough because they tend to manage from the perspective of how they would play versus the computer model because of real life experience. Several years ago before it became the hot thing to do he was using chapman, Miller to shorten the game. Now everyone does it.
