AFL Results Thursday Oct. 26: Riley hits for cycle!

In 19-4 win over Mesa, 20 total hits. Plus...

Big day for Riley, hits for the cycle! 4 for 6, 5rbi, and some great glove work to boot, but also had a boot (second of AFL season). Turning into a real prospect

Acuna also had a nice day 3 for 4 with 4 runs 1 rbi and a sacrifice fly. Also stolen base.

Nice to see, no doubt. Just remember the AFL is notoriously hitter-friendly year in and year out.

You could argue what Fried's been doing is more impressive than those guys.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

All winter league stats have to be taken with a grain of salt and, like you say, the AFL is notoriously hitter-friendly. That said, it's better than having them hitting .100 and K-ing half the time. Of all the guys we have in Arizona, the one that puzzles me the most is Jared James. Curious as to what his ceiling is. Likely not very high, but they wouldn't have sent him down there if they didn't think there was something to his game.

Unless your name is Connor Lien: .169, 35 K in 21 games in 2015!

Honestly did not believe the Braves thought he would sign, having been drafted in the 34th round, but the son of Dion James got on a fast track, hitting .298 in Danville, moving to Rome halfway thought his debut season, and finished the year hitting .302. Skipped Florida and spent 2017 in Mississippi, hitting .279 in platoon. Has the makings of a bona fide steal.

Still, Jackson is #2 overall for the league in ops and Riley is #4

Again, nice to see - just don't read too much into it.

    Another take it FWIW -

Valdez (who Riley homered off of) has a 60 fastball according to Pipeline.
Moreno (who Riley tripled off of) has a 70 fastball according to Pipeline.
Ravanelle (who Riley doubled off of) has a 70 fastball according to Pipeline.

Haven't seen any word about what pitches those hits came on (or how good they were for that matter), so that could obviously mean nothing - but they didn't come against junkballers.

Nice observations. Hopefully consistent with the reports that his bat speed isn't the concern it once was.

Yeah but they were only solo shots. Probably not enough to get him back in the Top 10.

Also interesting to see Touki work strictly out of the BP. I wonder if this is a sign the Braves are ready to make the change with him.

Lots of hitting on the farm. May need mote pitching to balance it out.

The Braves probably have 3 of the best RHed hitting prospects in the game, 3 of the best LHed pitching prospects in the game, and 3 of the best RHed pitching prospects in the game.

    Unreal!!!
