    Great Point About Analytics

And "front office suggestions" that they're talking about right now on XM.

If you put a Manager in place that is completely open to suggestions from above when it comes to lineup construction/bullpen management/etc. (Dave Roberts, for instance) and it DOESN'T work in a certain situation for whatever reason, doesn't the front office need to fall on the sword and run out to the reporters and say "he only used that Pitcher or hitter because we told him to"???

We keep hearing excuses when the unexpected happens rather than just a "hey, it didn't work and that's on us" when that kind of thing happens.

If you're going to hire someone who manages strictly by the new book (or takes the advice of his bosses who might understand the data better) rather than "his feel for the situation", you need to back him up and understand you can never fire him.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

That’s pretty true, other than firing him for managing of men reasons (team hates him and doesn’t play well, etc.)

Huh? This required a new thread? This qualifies as a "great point"?

There are probably a dozen reasons to fire a manager. Not being stats savvy is the most recently created reason.

Managers were fired way before stats analysis was invented, and they will continue to be fired.

Stop getting your "ideas" from XM radio.
