1968: The Tigers Denny McLain is unanimously named the AL Cy Young winner.
1978: The Yankees Ron Guidry wins the AL Cy Young.
1979: Edward Bennett Williams buys the Orioles for $12.3 million.
1982: The Rangers name Doug Rader manager.
1984: The NL owners block the re-election of Bowie Kuhn, ending his 14 years as commissioner.
2000: The Phillies name Larry Bowa manager.
2000: Jim Tracy is named Dodgers manager.
2001: The Astros name Jimy Williams manager.
2001: For the second straight night, the Yankees hit a game tying home run in the bottom of the ninth off Diamondbacks reliever Byung-hyun Kim. Scott Brosius tied it then Alfonso Soriano wins it in the 12th, giving the Yankees a 3-2 victory and a 3-2 lead in the World Series. The fifth game of this Fall Classic became the first game in ML history to start in November.
2007: Joe Torre is named Dodgers manager.
2010: The Giants defeat the Rangers 3-1 In Game 5, winning their first World Series title since 1954, when the team was in New York.
