    Offseason predictions from MLB

I’d be good with loading up the pen with those 2.

If we are in fact looking at a couple of late inning relievers I'm hoping the fact Melancon and Chapman both underperformed this past season bring the AAV back down.

Would prefer Jake McGee to Swarzak personally, but that's me. Also don't see any way Frazier takes a 1 or 2 year deal, but if he'd consider coming in for one season and gambling on himself hitting 40 bombs in SunTrust, I'd do what I could to be the highest bidder for him to buy another full season to better find out what you've got in Riley.

If the Braves are going to give Reed $30M, why not give the better pitcher Morrow $27M?

Having said that, I would be surprised to see the Braves pony up that kind of cash for a FA BP arm. It's not something they have ever done before.

I’d rather have Morrow and Reed.

Doesnt Morrow have a very bad injury history? I would prefer Reed.

This - wouldn't go near him considering it personally.

I like Mcghee. He and Shaw would be my preference if we were looking to add 2 arms.

The Reds did not make a QO to Cozart.

If he's willing to move to 3B that could be an interesting signing. I'm one who thinks Swanson is going to be fine and have a good season next year, but if for any reason we are worried it'd be a good insurance policy as well.

All BP arms are incredibly volatile. Just look at Melancon this year. That's why signing them to long deals is foolish and why I would prefer the Braves to go after guys who will only require 1-2 year deals like Neshek or Hunter.

Braves already have Minter and Freeman as legit LHed options in the BP. They will also have at least one of Fried or Newk in the BP by the end of the year.

The Braves should prioritize another legit RHer for the BP.

And they should only sign 1.

Thinking Freeman is traded. Minter and Lindgren should be 2 lefites in the pen, but both have had injury concerns. LH relievers alaways come in handy even in trades. No reason to pigeonhole yourself like that.

No guarantee either Fried or Newk would be in the pen. If Fried were to move to the pen it would be more if a swingman working multiple innings.

The winner in the Cozart bidding will be paying for his elite defense at SS.

If Freeman is traded I agree signing a LHer makes more sense. I also agree now would be a good time to sell high on him, but I can't fathom the Braves doing that. They think they are going to compete in 2018.

I would be willing to bet any amount of anything one of Fried or Newk ends up in the BP by the end of this season. One of Soroka, Allard or Wright will push them out of the rotation.

It's a very limited market. You have the Pirates, Padres, and Royals basically. If he is smart, he's thinking of broadening his options.

I don't see Newk going to the pen. I could see Fried, but it'd be more of a 2 inning guy and not a late inning reliever.

Folks are advocating the Braves spending around $30M per year in the BP. For a team with a $100M-$120M payroll and no real shot at postseason play, that seems...unlikely to end well.

Bullpen arms generate some nice Conte sort premium at the deadline.

Teams do not get good value from trading BP arms they signed at full market value 4 months earlier.

If the idea is to find BP arms who will increase in value at the deadline, the Braves need to target buy low options like Holland last offseason.
