The Bundy's won! Ammon and his two sons were finally released after the judge threw out all charges against them because of serious misconduct by the prosecutors and FBI. The gubment isn't one to let a court decision stand in their way though.

AA I have had the same thought. The bakery owners could have avoided this entire mess by just presenting the customers with the ugliest cake they have ever seen and then refunding their money when they didn't like it. Credit to them for being honest about it instead.

I am just stunned by this. Nice job by the court for holding the prosecution accountable for their mistakes.

They would had just argued the bakers made them a ****ty cake on purpose. When someone is out looking for a fight (the gay couple) they are going to find that fight.

Actually they said they will bake the cake, no problem. They just don't want to decorate it and they shouldn't and if they do, don't do a good job to show your objection of forcing something on you by the government.

That would be worse. They could easily prove in court that they did a ****ty job because they were gay. It’s better for them

Newly elected DA in Philly us making some exciting and hold changes. One I REALLY like is requiring prosecutors to justify the cost of incarcerating the defendant. It costs 42k a year for them to house prisoners. There is the usual fearmongering from police and prosecutors. The ironic thing is they say it's insulting to the victims of crimes but I would imagine this will have the most effect on cases where there is no victim. If your on a jury and the person murdered someone no cost is going to deter you. A lot of other good changes. It's taken 50 years to break the justice system thus badly and nothing will fix it overnight although that's the attack I expect. Fact is everything he is doing he campaigned on so he is the literal will of the majority

Are you in favor of making changes to some of the expensive quality of life measures that make this cost so high? Changes like feeding inmates the same stuff we feed school kids, getting rid of cable TV and air conditioning, redefining what is considered medically necessary so that taxpayers don't pay for gender transition services, reducing the amount of time inmates spend out of their cells to lower the labor cost? I'm not being a smart alec, I struggle with my own views on some of these.

You have any sourcing on those costs? Do they get cable? With A.C. I believe they have to have it indoors because without that it would get really gross in there and the guards would have to use hazmat suits. Prison guard is already a ****ty job and they would have a hard time employing them without A.C. indoors. Extreme heat also would lead to more violence and riots. How many guards lives are you willing to sacrifice to punish the inmates more? I don't know what they feed them with but in one case I monitoring in Alabama the Sheriffs get 1.75 per day to feed each prisoner and he has enough left over to pocket over 250k a year so I don't know how expensive that is. I have never received anything but a stale ham sandwich in jail.

As for changes I would make. Well about 40% wouldn't be there to begin with. A lot of the costs are fixed but it shouldn't be that difficult to convert an old prison into a school. If we have to lock up people for bull**** like weed I would make their prison like a waterpark. It would be so nice they wouldnt want to leave so security could be minimal and you are allowed to buy real food with their own money. Those that can't afford that take up jobs in the waterpark prison to get enough for food. I know this doesn't sound like a punishment but according to the AG potheads are just a plague on society. This is a win win deal as I see it. Sessions gets to remove potheads from society but without the current massive costs of incarceration.

Interesting lawsuit in a town in Indiana. Apparently there is no court system for parking fines. I guess they figure why even bother with the illusion that you have a chance to appeal tickets. Without a chance to appeal it is unconstitutional and they may have to refund driver's going back to 1989. They wrote 11,000 tickets in 2015 alone. This will probably take several appeals to higher courts because low level judges are too attached to their local governments. Ruling against then could financially wreck the town. That's no excuse to escape justice though. If people don't like it maybe they should demand the people responsible be criminally held responsible.

    http://www.foxnews.com/story/2006/05...-gambling.html

This reminded me of this murder. Cops launch an investigation over this man making NFL bets with his friends. An undercover cop befriends him and starts betting with him. The cop pushes the guy to get more than 2k so it will meet the minimum requirement to charge him. So now they go to arrest him. They send a SWAT team to his house. A middle aged optometrist who has no guns, never been arrested, and has no history of violence. When he answers the door officer shoots him killing him instantly. The cop said his finger slipped. But don't worry, local DA played judge and jury declaring the officer did nothing wrong and there won't even be a trial. In fact that DA had not prosecuted cop in his 40 year working as a prosecutor. Now what happened after that you say. With their murder all over the news and the NCAA basketball tournament commimg up they released an ad saying "Don't gamble, it's not worth the risk"....

I wonder how many rapes and murders went unsolved or even uninvestugated while this gambling investigation was going on.
