    It's too Damned Cold

After a relatively mild start to December round here (basically every day was above the average) it's too damned cold out now. I'm tired of it being negative double digit lows every day. This **** is supposed to happen in February. I understand this has something to do with the arctic jet stream around alaska moving up or something. Anyway **** it. This is February cold in December, I'm not ready for this. And weather projections aren't anticipating a breakup anytime soon.

The scary part for my neck of the woods is that they're talking about a breakup leading to a mild winter later, which could be devastating for the ski industry. Nothing sucks harder than mild winters. Last winter was a great winter for skiing, but the year before was miserable with mountains burning all their cash reserves to keep the people who booked their trips to stay.

Anyway, long story short, it's too cold, I want a normal winter. So far in New Hampshire I'm like 1 for 5 in normal winters, first 2 were super cold (thanks to the Arctic Blob) the next one was a super mild el nino winter, then last year was pretty fantastic.

I’d be fine being back in Colorado. Insane amount of sun throughout the year, snowboarding is pretty great, and the winters have cold days, but overall it’s plenty bearable.

Except when it's hotter than balls. Coastal living in the South sucked, especially in the winter months. 75 one day, 40 the next constantly. I wouldn't want to live in the North but I'm fine with colder temps. I've lived my whole life in the South and don't remember it ever being lower than about 5 degrees.

One of my favorite activities is golfing so I'm sure our experiences would be slightly different. I've heard your sentiments many times though

Foremost, I can't do the humidity. Other factors exacerbate, for sure, though.

BTW my fears became true. Right in the prime time for vacation here. The weather is incredibly mild for this time of year. It's gonna probably make for a great maple sugaring season, but it won't make for a great ski season.

I didn't want to make a new thread and instead I had a musing. Right now outside is -13 here. Not factoring in wind chill (last night we had a wind chill warning) we're further from freezing than freezing is from 75 degrees.

Last night was extra stupid as it was like -14 feels like -35. Cause of the wind chill. At least we're supposed to get a bit of a warm up with the snow storm coming in. My Furnace could use a bit of a break.

Also this happened not that far from me the other day

I live just north of Franconia. Great area in a lot of ways. Except for food where there's like 4 quality restaurants within 20 minutes.
