    2018 Braves Spring Training Thread

Pitchers and Catchers report now in less than 1 month. (Feb 13th), players on Feb. 13th.

What are some of the things that you are looking forward to paying attention to this spring?

I think for myself, it is the obvious headlines. How does Acuna do during the spring, does he make it impossible to not put him on the roster? Of our young pitchers, who impresses the most during the spring? Who wins a rotation spot?

    Locked up positions so far:

    C - Flowers/Suzuki
    1B - Freeman
    2B - Albies
    SS - Swanson
    3B - Open IMO

    LF- Open IMO
    CF - Inciarte
    RF - Markakis

    RHP - Teheran
    RHP - McCarthy
    RHP - Folty
    #4 - Open
    #5 - Open

    Closer - Vizcaino
    LHP- Freeman
    RHP - Ramirez

That leaves a lot of open position battles this spring.....Camargo, Culberson, Ruiz, Tucker, Adams, etc.

Acuna, Riley, and Wright are the 3 I’m most interesting in. To take that next step we need Riley to prove he’s the answer at 3b, Acuna to pickup where he left off, and the young pitchers to progress instead or regress.

I'm pumped to see if Frieds issue last year were blister related. Its a long shot but I think he could actually win a rotation spot.

Saw him play a game in Gwinnett last season. Looks like he is filling in a little bit.

I’m interested in guys who I’m a little worried about like Swanson, Camargo, Fried, and Newcomb.

Me too! Went to a few games he was bigger than when I saw him in Rome and he looks a little bigger in this video as well.

I want to see if AA’s new data analysts have identified the fact Fried needs to drop the 4 seamer and pick up a 2 seamer.

No matter what happens, it will not be impossible to leave Acuna off the roster to start the year. He needs to be down for at least the first two weeks regardless.

Gotta do that. Crazy to basically throw away a year of control.

Scott Kazmir may be my new favorite Brave. The fact that we're not expecting anything from him lowers expectations dramatically. There's a good chance he could be healthy in his last chance for a contract year.

Honestly anything we get is like finding free money

Honorable mention is if Neck was able to lift this offseason and whether we can expect to see his power return.
