    Pipeline is trash.

    His actual PV/FV grades are: Hit 30/45, Game 30/60, Raw 65/65, Speed 50/45, Field 45/50, Arm 55/55

That's basically the OF version of Riley.

Because Pipeline is a joke and he doesn't have those tool grades currently.

I'm stoked to get Jenista in the 2nd. He was definitely a mid-1st round prospect not all that long ago IIRC. love those first two picks.

Bowman said we were very interested in University of Virginia LHP Daniel Lynch at 49, but he went at 36 to KC.

Stewart posted a 0.91 ERA and recorded 128 strikeouts over 61 2/3 innings during his senior season. He may have cemented his place with the Braves when he recorded 18 strikeouts and threw a no-hitter with cross-checker Tom Battista in attendance.

"I'm not going to see anybody any better, and I don't want to see him any worse," Battista told Bridges. "He's our guy."

I let my PG Crosschecker subscription lapse, so I don't follow the draft like i used to, but Jenista seems to make sense, especially if he can play a corner OF position.

Jenista hit .320 with 14 doubles, one triple, nine home runs and six stolen bases during his sophomore season at Wichita State. He enhanced his stock last summer, when he batted .310, tallied three home runs and stole nine bases over 39 Cape Cod League games.

"We really like what he brings, definitely with the left-handed swing in our ballpark, gives us a potential to tap into that power," Bridges said. "You can't teach size, and you can't teach strength. You can't teach power. We ... get the most out of their abilities."

Btw Jenista played some center this season. He has some speed for a big guy. I think he'll be able to play a corner OF position without much trouble.

He was a little disappointing his junior season, which caused him to drop a bit on most draft boards. The Braves think it was a case of "draftitis," pressing too hard with all the scouts watching.

Well, I don't think that should be taken literally. Just an expression.

I thought i saw some Springer comps for Jenista earlier on in the draft process.

I think he meant that what he saw was so convincing that he didn't want anything to make him second guess himself. Stewart was absolutely the right pick and I'd hate to have missed out because of scouting fatigue.

Kiley tweet seems to imply we might have some money left to spend today. Wish we had a third round pick to make that easier:

My best guess about where each pool is:

Slightly under relative to slot (9)
ATL, BAL, CHC, HOU, NYM, NYY, PHI, PIT, SD

    Right about at slot (15)
CHW, CIN, CLE, COL, DET, KC, LA, MIL, MIN, OAK, SF, SEA, STL, TEX, TOR

Slightly over relative to slot (6)
ARZ, BOS, LAA, MIA, TB, WSH

If Oakland is going to let Murray play QB this year I would think he would be a below slot guy.

    Agreed.

As much as I think drafting hitters is the best strategy overall, Stewart was pretty clearly the BPA at that point in the draft.

The Jenista pick is also pretty solid. The Braves got their Gorman/Riley hitter without using the 8th pick to get it. I'm on board. Comps to Springer (or any 4-5 win player) are a bit silly though.

I agree, I think comps in general are silly. but i think they just meant body type/play style. big, power, can run, some swing and miss coming out.
