No video, but Acuna gets yet another hit. Appears it was a infield single.

Swanson and acuna hit the ball really hard according to radio. The SS made a great play on acuna’s ball, but acuna too fast #30stealslock

Can be 105 and it won’t matter if not for strikes.

Decker has RBI single in 2nd, Braves 1-0

Franco leads off 3rd with DBL and is stranded as Albies lines out to SS, Swanson and Acuna both K

Well, 41 LHP threw harder than Newk in 2017. Another dozen were within 0.5 MPH.

A total of 190 LHP threw a fastball at the MLB level in 2017, so Newk is in the top 25% for velocity.

Of course he was #15 in BB/9 of the 355 pitchers who threw 50+ innings in 2017, so he's in the bottom 5% in control.

Ok...but throwing hard doesn't equate to stuff. You had a nice writeup on him where you said he had ace stuff and in your search to have argument in all situations you are going to ignore that. Just be normal on occasion man. Not everything is a fight.

Newcomb best pitch is not a fastball though, right?

I said he has TOR stuff, yes. Unsurprisingly, you took that to mean "he has ace stuff".

The grades on his pitches are a direct calculation based on standard deviations from the mean of all MLB pitchers, adjusted for the fact he is LHed. That tells you exactly how many pitchers have better stuff.

Just be normal on occasion man. Not everything is a rah rah competition.

11 of last 18. Maybe the advanced pitch sequencing is not a problem. Too bad, it opens the Braves up to doing something dumb.

I haven't been able to see any recent PAs to see if he has faced MLB pitch sequencing when he has hit the ball well, but he is certainly setting the Braves up to look bad when they send him to AAA.
