Just more good news every single day.

“After two hours of debate Tuesday, it happened: The California Senate voted on AB 5. It passed.
Democratic lawmakers applauded. Supporters of the bill cheered online.
“I have tears in my eyes and goosebumps on my limbs,” wrote Veena Dubal, a law professor at University of California Hastings.
AB 5’s passage — which Gov. Gavin Newsom is expected to sign — could easily be seen as just another progressive victory in California. But it is more than that. It is a historic moment for the US labor movement too.
By making it hard for employers to misclassify employees as independent contractors, potentially millions of California workers who’ve been kept off payrolls will get basic labor rights for the first time, like overtime pay and unemployment benefits. This includes janitors, construction workers, security guards, and hotel housekeepers — and yes, this group also includes Uber and Lyft drivers”

“Vox Media cuts hundreds of freelance journalists, blaming AB 5
Since California adopted the new state employment law AB 5 in September, freelance journalists in the state have been scrambling to understand how their livelihoods could be affected after it takes effect on Jan. 1. Now some are finding out.
New York-based Vox Media said Monday that it will end contracts with hundreds of freelance writers and editors in California who cover sports for the blog network SB Nation as the company comes into compliance with the law, which could have forced it to reclassify some of these contractors as employees.
In 2020, the company will create a new team of SB Nation employees to cover California sports that have largely been covered by independent contractors since 2003. Vox Media will end contracts with about 200 people, including non-California freelancers who cover teams based in the state, and replace them with 20 new part-time and full-time staffers, according to a source familiar with the decision.

President Trump on trade deals:
NAFTA: “the worst Trade Deal ever made”
TPP: “even worse” than NAFTA
USMCA (mostly NAFTA with elements of TPP): “the best and most important trade deal ever made”

Best president of our lifetime
How many here said the economy would crash under a Trump presidency?

I said it would boom despite him and he would ride that to reelection. So half right.

This. No matter how the money is spent the economy gets better with more money. Thats why Republicans pound the table about the debt when Democrats are in power and spend like drunken sailors when they are in charge. What Trump is trying to do is make a series of short term moves designed to boost the economy and hoping it crashes after he leaves so he can proclaim himself to be economic Jesus.

Deficit has never exploded like this outside a war or severe recession.
Effectively deficits are an IOU that future generations will pay.
In times of war it can be justified along the lines of "defeat Hitler to secure freedom for future generations." So it is fair to pass on some of the bill to them. The Reagan buildup could possibly be justified along those lines as part of the cost of winning the Cold War. Reagan also had a recession to deal with in his first term.
In times of economic crisis you want to jump start the economy but should wind down the deficit in a timely manner.
What we are doing now (no war, no economic crisis) is a new thing.
