The labor conditions thing is just the right's version of virtue signalling. Ultimately all that anyone really cares about is their ability to get goods cheap.

Considering how awful public transportation is inThe Bay, this is a horrible outcome for SF residents. All of my friends and coworkers use Uber and Lyft extensively, if not exclusively.

Don’t disagree, but it’s still a valid point even if it’s ultimately not rooted in altruism.

Of course its valid. Comparing prices of slave labor versus market labor is irrelevant.

In a just world we should never be paying the dirt prices we are paying for Chinese goods so arguments talking about the increase cost to consumers are missing the big picture.

Apple hit $2 trillion today. That’s 9% of the United States GDP.

imagine what Apple could be if it wasn't domiciled in California!

imagine what silicon valley would be like if it wasn't in California!

time to move to one of those high suicide, high teen pregnancy, high incarceration, low education, low income, low life expectancy red states

it seems to me the above considerations are fair game in evaluating the relative quality of governance of red and blue states

or is it the case that blue state governors and mayors are responsible for problems in their states and cities, but red state mayors and governors are not

Read an interesting article about possible impacts of the Calif wealth tax, but now I can’t find the link...speculated that wealthy folks might be more inclined to sell assets at a loss to lower their wealth tax burden, leading to lower capital gains tax revenue (I believe California has highest in country), and potentially a net decline in overall tax revenue

Honestly they have a lot of rich people by the balls on this one. Some will leave but most will stay for various reasons. It's still a redonkulously stupid idea. I wouldnt even drive through California.

I live in California and I like it quite a bit. The paradise tax is worth it. If you are educated, you can make more than enough to offset the cost of living.

I’ll take it over hot ass Texas or the muggy South.

I have a friend who works for Fairfax County and hes said VA is plucking businesses from California and New York in droves this year. He says local businesses (corporations) have told him that California needs to show some semblance of being friendly to business or they cant justify staying there anymore.

They wont wake up til its too late

I see powering the electricity of your state as much more of a government responsibility than extending my life expectancy? how are those things similar?

Power is for the elites. Peasants can deal with no power during the summer.
