And Dansby slapped a breaking pitch away for an RBI today. If he can get it there, he'll be fine. If not and then Camargo continues, very good chance he gets replaced.

Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.

Nice play at 3B with a diving catch of hot shot headed to LF. It wasn't Schmipf, some Mil wearing 94. Then another nice play by MiL at SS with sliding catch and jump throw from deep hole.

Another big day for Schimpf. 0-3 wit 1 K and 3 errors-throw, fielding, throw, missed catch.

Yeah. I understand the DL part. I thought Rule 5 selections had to stay on the 25 man all year, not just 90 days. Is that a rule change or has it always been just 90 days? That would make it much easier to grab Rule 5 guys. Keeping them on the 25 man roster all year is tough unless they are really ready to contribute. 90 days is much more manageable.

Some players are hit-or-miss. Schimpf appears to be miss-or-miss.

Blair gave up his three runs on a ball that should've been an out ruled a triple and three RBI's. That goes to show how bad Tucker is defensively. I had forgot how bad he was out there even though I follow Houston a lot. Now I remember what a DH he really is, but so was Kemp so hopefully his bat plays enough for a platoon. But back to my main point, Blair while not impressive doesn't give up any runs if that ball is caught as it is with someone not DH level bad defensively. However, that is still not saying much about our long man options at this point. In fact, I almost rather Blair and Sims start in AAA and do well and come back with some confidence. I don't even count Wisler anymore, he stinks. But Blair and Sims have more potential, esp. now that Blair has lost so much weight.

    I'll stop now.
The good news about his terrible ST is that now we can DFA and outright him as surely no one will claim him. This way if he ever gets back to his former self in the minors we still have him as an option later on at some point.

I know it used to be a full season and if any time was spent on the DL, the requirement would spill over into the next season. So many rule changes I can't keep up with them all (if there is indeed a rule change here).

Funny you should mention Kemp. He's gotten a lot of positive press this spring after the Dodgers decided to hang onto him (at least in the short term). Now just watch. He'll hit better in Los Angeles and Roberts will get him out of the game when the Dodgers have a late lead.

    From MLBTR

There were 18 players selected in the 2017 Rule 5 Draft — which is to say that 18 players who were left off their organizations’ respective 40-man rosters were selected by a new team and given a chance to break camp on a 25-man roster.

Eligibility for the Rule 5 Draft is dependent on age and minor league service time, but the Rule 5 is generally an opportunity for potential big leaguers who aren’t in their clubs’ immediate plans to break through elsewhere, so long as they can remain on their new club’s roster/disabled list for the entire season — including at least 90 days of active roster time. (A player who falls shy of those 90 days of active service due to DL time retains his Rule 5 status in following seasons until he has accumulated 90 active days on the 25-man roster.) Rule 5 players cannot be optioned to the minors without first being passed through outright waivers and, if they clear, then offered back to their original club for $50K (half of the $100K cost of making a Rule 5 pick in the first place).

    About Gomez---

Anyelo Gomez, RHP, Braves (from Yankees): Yet another interesting player in a Yankees system that is producing too much talent for the team’s 40-man roster, Gomez ran up the ladder in a strong 2017 season, briefly reaching Triple-A and ending with a cumulative output of 70 1/3 innings of 1.92 ERA pitching with 11.1 K/9 and 2.7 BB/9. He hasn’t dominated this spring, but the Braves obviously like his arm and have plenty of reason to try to hang onto him in a year in which they do not expect to compete for the postseason.
