Yes, it was Hart. Every time he spoke about Albies, there was doubt casted on him. Basically "We're gonna find out if he can play at this level". It was absurd. He did this on more than one occasion.

hart didn't get a raging boner during TV interviews talking about albies so he must not have thought albies could play.

Heard Chipper Jones say he wasn't ready because of that too.
I guess Chipper didn't like him either despite otherwise raving about him.
Hart was being questioned about a player that people wanted to promote while he had veterans already at that position and had an incentive to keep Albies down.
Maybe he was willing to deal Albies, maybe he wasn't. He should have been willing to deal him. But he didn't ultimately deal him which suggests that he valued him more highly than anyone offered.
It is interesting that Chipper always raved about Acuna but was lukewarm about Albies.

There were reports he was offered for Sonny Gray/Quintana. Don't know how accurate, but if so, that's a joke.
He went out of his way to gush about every other prospect but Albies.
Apparently, Acuna was off limits in trade talks with the Tigers over Fulmer but not Albies.

if he was, in fact, offered for gray or quintana (which i doubt) and the A's/Cubs turned it down (which i doubt they would have) then i guess they didn't appropriately like him either.

actually that's a fair point...other teams were more interested in Acuna...Tigers...also the Marlins when we discussed Yelich
perhaps the takeaway is not specifically about the skills of Hart and Chipper as talent evaluators...but the general difficulty of projecting young players...i think especially power is a tool that is very unpredictable in terms of how it develops
but one thing we can all be united about...thank goodness for the Children of Wren! Acuna, Albies and Camargo! They are golden!
