I think in general extensions are good. If we could extend Comargo, Swanson, Albies and Acuna I'd be thrilled. I am sure at least one would go bad. But at least one would be a huge bargain.

I'm sure someone has stats on how often extensions work out or don't. I'd bet on the extensions.

For Wrenn he was HORRIBLE at free agent deals. He was pretty dang good on extensions. I think extensions just have the built in advantages of being guys you know really well and younger players. Uggla was technically an extension, but it was after a trade. Uggla was not known and not that young. Full disclosure I loved the deal and extension at the time.

well when you draft like 4 good players in 7 years, you can't build a farm. when you don't have a farm, you don't have a future.

If Coppy drafted a crop of players that turn out as good as Kimbrel, Simmons, Wood and Gattis, I'll be shocked

(And Coppy got to draft top 10 every year)

(when wren drafted top-10 he still took a low-ceiling pitcher. yawn).
(we've drafted better players in the late first/supp/2nd rounds than wren drafted in the 20s. yawn).
of course, we're talking about 3 drafts vs 7. i'll be shocked if the war per draft isn't higher. 4 players in 7 years. FOUR.
those 1st round picks by wren are horrifically bad. i don't care if he picked 32 each year. it's a terrible crop.

Mike Minor has prodcued 10 war.

You can keep being wrong about this. Like always, you post with emotion and no data.

Don’t we have like ten threads saying the same thing already. Wouldn’t it be easier to just copy and paste from those.

Wren wasn't a terrible GM. He wasn't particularly great either. Regarding his poor return for his great assets, I'd have to disagree overall.

    Gattis brought us Folty.
Heyward brought us Miller and then subsequently Ender and Dansbae.
J-Up returned Fried, Mallex, and potentially Dustin Peterson. Mallex then netted us Gohara.
Kimbrell trade netted Wisler and the opportunity to draft Riley (still hate this trade regardless of how they do)
Simmons netted Newk (still hate this trade regardless how Newk does)

That's a good amount of talent. We can debate whether the value at the time was commiserate or not, but the fruits yielded seem pretty good so far.

You're talking about 3 drafts compared to 7. Even still, as of now, it would appear that Coppy/Hart have a much better hit rate per draft seeing as Riley, Wentz Cumberland, Wilson, Waters, and Soroka have all made at least 1 top 100 list as guys drafted outside the 1st round. And you also have guys like Weigel, Minter, and Muller as well who are/were pretty highly regarded as prospects.

It was a joke to elicit a response from Enscheff.

Well you're welcome to count the chickens before they roost.

But I've been informed that non first round picks don't count

The resolutely demonstrative nature with which you excoriate community colleges will indubitably bite you in the posterior posthaste. We, the free and mighty people of this internet forum, may indeed declare our independence from you with much alacrity, pomp, and mirth if you continue your supercilious charade. Do not for one second deem yourself indissoluble from this union if the exigencies of our affairs demand your repudiation. If you continue down the path of Sodom and Gomorrah- that of wickedness and nefariousness- your demise will be met with jubilation from a multitude, and it will be as deserved as Samson's loss of strength as he gave in to the temptation of Delilah. The Enscheff brand will no longer be one for our time, rather it will be one for the Ages of Infamy.

They could all bust, but so far, all of them have gained value since being drafted. How many drafts did Wren produce with multiple players making a top 100 list?
