Right but we have a team option for 2020, figures he’d at least mention we’d trade him.

Bowman's track record on predictions isn't very good, esp. lately with AA as GM. His post came about the same time as Heyman's too and Heyman stated that he's hearing that we are set to add Sanchez along with Perez tomorrow. Bowman didn't have that information so time will tell who's right. He also suggested again that Adams would be dropped once Camargo is ready after it had been reported before the injuries that Snit had other plans, did his plans suddenly change due to injuries to our catchers? I doubt it, I expect Stewart to go down for Camargo if Kurt Suzuki doesn't hit the DL first. That would leave us with Suzuki as starting catcher and newly acquired Perez as back-up till Flowers is back.

Lastly, I disagree with his views on our starting pitching prospects. And Gohara isn't the one I'd "sell high" on.

If Foltynewicz has a strong 2018 he seems like the much more sensible trade chip, relative to Gohara.

Agree with this. That gohara trade came out of left field for me. Can you give the kid a year or two please?

I agree, Bowman has long overrated Folty IMO. If Folty does well enough he's who you should sell high on IMO. I'd also sell high on Newcomb too if we can find deal to improve that Simmons trade.

We’ve heard about adding a frontline starter “in the next year” for the last three years.

If we do make a run at a starter, wonder who it’ll be. The Fulmer thing makes sense with Detroit rebuilding, but he has been injured more than I’m comfortable with.

Marcus Stroman has been one that I think makes a lot of sense. His shoulder issues in spring training aren’t ideal.

    Any others make sense?

Why would the Braves trade a SP who is pre-arb?

We have Folty for 3 more years.

    Gohara for 6 more years.

Folty and Newk seem like trade chips.

Soroka, Gohara, Wright seem logical to make the rotation by then as well as a FA/trade, and maybe Allard or someone not talked about.

There is a set of circumstances where trading for a TOR guy might make sense. The first requirement is Riley proves he is ready to be a 3+ win guy at 3b, thus removing the need to spend resources at 3b.

Under that scenario, the Braves would only need to fill LF and C, and plenty of free cash to do so.

Having said that, AA has tried some silly trades to acquire impact pitching. Hopefully he learned from his time with the Dodgers and won’t be trying to replicate another ill fated acquisition.

They may want to if Gohara doesn't get his weight under control. I can't see any other reason than that.
Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.

I have reason to believe Bowman doesn’t understand basic logic.

MLBTR has a different take on Braves roster moves.

The Braves are set to add both Anibal Sanchez and Carlos Perez to their 25-man roster for tomorrow’s game, Joel Sherman of the New York Post tweets. Corresponding moves have yet to be determined, as Atlanta still isn’t certain whether Kurt Suzuki could require some DL time after he was hit in the hand with a pitch on Friday. Perez is out of options, so the newly-acquired catcher seemed likely to get an immediate placement on the MLB roster to avoid being exposed to waivers. Sanchez was signed to a minor league contract two weeks ago and will make $1MM for reaching the Braves’ big league roster.
There could be quite a bit of roster-juggling for the Braves in the next couple of weeks, as MLB.com’s Mark Bowman details in a reader mailbag piece. Bowman actually wasn’t certain the team would go ahead with promoting Sanchez since the Braves don’t need a fifth starter until April 10, and there wasn’t any major need to use Sanchez out of the bullpen since the relievers weren’t overly taxed over Atlanta’s first three games. (Plus, the Braves are off today and on April 5.) Much will depend on Suzuki’s DL status or if Johan Camargo will be immediately activated when he is eligible to come off the disabled list on April 5, or if the Braves will give Camargo some time in the minors to get fully up to speed after missing three weeks.

Only thing I really take from this is what I'm trying to drill looks like it's going to come to fruition. Long gone will be the days of aggressively pushing prospects soon. Don't expect Pache until late in 2019 if in 2019 at all even if he just absolutely DESTROYS it.

Or trade the one young pitcher on staff who has actually shown he may be a TOR starter at the major level based on his actual time as a major leaguer?
