And just like that, after 70 pitches, he misses up and away with several fastballs. Once again the Rox swing at a bad pitch.

Newk is feasting on this aggressive lineup.

Yeah idk I think most of Dansby's issue was he didn't deserve to be up as early as he was. He needed to make adjustments and he made the adjustment that Cozart did before 2017, it's working.
Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.

    Oooooh that inning was beautiful

You get Newcomb an aggressive lineup and it's over

Just dream a bit, and imagine Swanson and Newcomb stay at this level

They were within the zone or an inch or two off based on the computerized zone. If he lives there he is going to be very good.

We're looking at keys today. Obviously we need all of our young players to develop, but I think Newcomb and Dansby are two that have potential that there are very legitimate questions about. If they can realize their potential then this team could be a lot better than projected. Of course the jury is still out. Newc looks good today, but with him it's about control and consistency. Dansby really does look like he's made adjustments, but it will take some time to be sure.

I'm sure we all predicted that Newcomb would go 6 innings, 0 runs, and strike out 9 so far, eh?

Then he settled down and painted right after that.

Hitters are more likely to chase when you are commanding the strike zone.

2 changes at 87 on the outside corner.

    Fastballs up past aggressive hitters.

    This is incredibly impressive.

Wow Newcomb just struck out the side. If he has turned the corner with his command then that’s a very solid piece to the rotation.

He was also nailing the bottom outside corner. Maybe the game plan was to attack up with 2 strikes

Do our announcers think his offspeed pitch in the 80’s is Sean “taking some off” his fastball?

I have to listen to the Rockies broadcast and they love Newbie.

change, curve, slider low, if he throws a fastball high, it will be a strikeout.

    Guess what they called it.

they said it is the most dominant performance they've seen all year.

I like them a lot unilke the Nats homers.

This power surge from Dansby is so encouraging.

The strikeouts from Newk are encouraging

The defense in general has been encouraging.

I don't think we a playoff team, but there is a lot of encouraging signs from the team
