Alex Jackson off to a nice start to the season

Could end up having long term options at 1b/2b/3b/SS/C/cf/rf with a ton of pitching depth

When you look at what we have at the major league level and whats in the minors it's not as crazy as one would think. Unlikely yes buy possible.

Yeah, he was supposed to DH for the Fire Frogs last night and that didn’t come to pass. Now after two days and no games, it seems like there is a renewed injury concern.

I really liked the Waters pick, but: I think at this point Ks and BBs, rather than SLG, is what we need to be tracking with him. Dude’s going to hit for power; the question is whether he can make enough contact.

From stuff I've read about him, Waters is very raw. He'll definitely benefit from the more slower paths that are going to be taken by the new regime.
Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.

Haven't read much on Waters so I will take your word for it, but it would be odd for a Georgia kid who has come through a pretty rigorous feeder system to be described as "raw." Only thing I have read is that Waters is all about tools. Big, strong, fast.

This stuff is obviously tough to predict, but he looks like a one-level-per-year guy to me. The tools are definitely there, but he's going to strike out a ton with his current approach. He swings at everything and chases offspeed in the dirt way too much.

I've always thought that unless a guy is oozing talent and it's translating, one level per year puts a guy on a good arc. My rule-of-thumb is that a guy should be in AA when a 40-man roster decision needs to be made and Waters will reach that if he advances one level per year.
