House Speaker Paul Ryan will not seek re-election.

    Cites family as the reason.

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—In a fit of pique, David and Charles Koch have unceremoniously listed House Speaker Paul Ryan for sale on the auction site eBay.

The Kochs, who reportedly had purchased Ryan for a sum estimated in the tens of millions, now seem likely to lose their entire investment.
According to Ryan’s listing on the auction site, the Kochs set a five-hundred-dollar asking price for the used congressman, a figure that, in light of the tepid bidding for him, seems optimistic.

“Granted, owning Paul Ryan doesn’t have the benefits that it’s had for David and Charles for all of these years, but the status of owning a former Speaker of the House has to be worth something,” one Koch associate said. “Certainly more than the current high bid of seventeen dollars.”

The eBay listing suggested several possible uses for the former House Speaker, including as a Halloween ornament or garden gnome.

We spent like 15 years hearing about Paul Ryan and the deficit.

Yesterday we learned that the deficit’s on track to be 50% higher in 2020 than 2017,

mostly because of the bills he passed. Today he steps down.

    Job well done, Paul

Agreed, the face isn't the problem, in fact he looks just like that one guy on the NFL Network

Like rats abandoning the ship. No one want their face on the downfall that is likely to come. Brazil and South Korea recently sent their presidents to prison for a long time. Why not us?

Just to be clear, you're NOT saying he has a "purty mouth" though, right? ;)

Even though he is not my favorite, he always talked about family and I know what he is going through as I am going through the same "Weekend Dad is not a fun moniker to hold".

Now if we can get rid of McConnel, Pelosi and the others old partisan hacks out of congress, AFTER we impeached the Orange one, this country can move forward.

Kasich, Booker and Harris is a great start. Younger people that can bring fresh ideas and not the establishments of either party and the warts they bring.

#PaulRyan personifies conservatism’s decline. Ryan was willing to do anything,

including enabling #Trump's abuses, to pass tax cuts. He got the tax cuts.

The price to him and his party is immense. And now Ryan will be gone. My column

EJ Dionne is pretty good at seeing things in a nut shell

Actually, our corruption is more systemic and better hidden. The POTUS is always going to be highly insulated and a tough one to snare. The number of people around Trump already caught and confessing is an embarrassment and a direct reflection on the character of the President.

I see Trump's tragic flaw as being incompetence, caused by arrogance and a lack of respect for the system, but still simple incompetence. Most all of his troubles could've been avoided with a little more discipline and a few actually smart people around him. However, he'd have to actually take their advice, which destroys my whole argument.

Do you honestly believe our presidents don't sell influence? The exact same thing the SK president is going to prison for and a crime in almost every country. Bush should be in Guantanimo

    Sell influence in what sense?

Park Geun-hye was involved in some crazy **** involving a Rasputin-like character and the funneling of multi-millions of dollars from corporations (like Samsung) directly into personal coffers.

I don't see that happening here. Not in any truly comparable way.
