Seems very unrealistic that Bautista can be an adequate 3B. More likely, he helps us as an insurance policy if Freeman or Markakis get hurt in the coming weeks.

Well, after watching this AA interview . . . it seems like they are expecting Bautista to come up and be the 3B once he gets adequate ABs at an affiliate and if he doesn't fall flat on his face. Hmm.

Even if he hits like he did in his prime, no room in the inn. We've got Flaherty and Tucker.

Eh, no harm no foul here. It's likely he's toast but in a case where he's not, maybe you have cheap power at 3B and jettison Flaherty.
Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.

the next Matt Adams. Can't wait for for Bautista to play well in Freddie's absence so we can flip him for a top 100 prospect at the trade deadline.

Hopefully Freddie kept his third base glove loose.

Top 100 prospect? Doubt it. But, Bautista for Odorizzi makes too much sense to not happen.

What do you weigh more heavily, 23 homers last year, 170 Ks or .203 average. At least he's healthy; he played in 157 games, the most since 2010.

He did have a .230 BABIP last year and the power is obviously still there. May be a bit of bad luck. At 37 years old we shouldn't expect much, but I didn't expect much from Troy Glaus either and he carried the team for about 2 months. So who knows.

They will package him with Teheran and get the Angels' top ten prospects for them.

You weight them all equally. When you do, the overall picture was....not good.

His BABIP was .239, but his career BABIP is only .264, and his xBABIP last year was basically in line with his career totals. So he was a little unlucky but not by too much.

And he still has power, but not as much as he used to, and not enough to make up for an increase in K rate. An increase in K rate each of his last 2 years, combined with declining power each of his last 2 years, is why you see his overall production dropping so much.

Unless he has somehow corrected those things, he is no longer a good hitter.
