All told, Flowers was a good bet; then he bloomed out of his likeliest outcomes and became a great payout on what was "only" a good bet.
I wish he could throw though. That is the one thing I hate about late bloomer

I'm guessing we don't hear from him in this thread again haha.
I honestly don't give a damn about y'all's petty feud. But if a poster is going to pillory others for not checking the record and for "changing the narrative" retrospectively, they might want to at least ... check the record.

I just think it's amusing how many people call him out for being a fool, yet he keeps trying to assert himself as some sort of expert and the rest of us are dumb haha.

Not your best work here but only because you've set the bar so high.

Not only was he wrong about the narrative a few years ago, but pitch framing metrics weren’t new in 2016.

I'm guessing Bautista never sees any real playing time at the MLB level unless it's as a DH.
I'd agree, if only because I doubt Bautista performs well enough to make it to Atlanta as a regular 3B. If he does rebound, I can see the sense in Camargo shifting into a super utility role and maybe throwing Bautista in a corner when needed. Still seems super unlikely.

From MLBTR on Bautista making Atl

By Jeff Todd | April 19, 2018 at 9:38pm CDT

The Braves don’t intend to take a long time deciding whether to bring up recent signee Jose Bautista, Michael Hoad of Sportsnet.ca writes. GM Alex Anthopoulos says that the club is “optimistic [Bautista is] going to have an opportunity to come up,” so it seems the expectation is that the former star will indeed get a shot. He’ll be looking for a return to form at the plate even as he makes a surprising return to third base after nearly a decade spent mostly in the outfield. But Anthopoulos did note that he hasn’t made any promises of a MLB promotion, so it seems that Bautista will at least have to show something to get a crack at boosting a Braves team that is off to a nice start.

To me that seems like GM speak in regards to a player he has a good history with. Clearly he is throwing Joey Bats a bone and if something miraculous happens and he shows the ability to hit and not embarrass himself at 3rd then of course he will get some playing time.

Where is Bautista going to play?

Camargo splits dictate he is a better right handed hitter. We kind of need to get Flahrety some playing time.

I just don't see the fit for Bautista at third.

Agreed. It would just be silly to sit Camargo in favor of Bautista. Camargo should be getting consistent ABs.

Bench bat, spot start at 3b, and spot start in LF?

My question for AA is where would Bautista have been when Camargo made the diving catch on the track half way to home in game 1 vs Mutts? My guess would be near 3rd base bag picking his nose. Camargo will run circles around Bautista. A mutiny fan reaction will beset AA if Bautista blocks Camargo or Flaherty in any manner. Is the signing of Bautista akin to nepotism?

Bautista and AA are close and Bautista knows his staff, so it's not surprising he ended up here given the price and only a minor league deal to take a look. That said, I never liked Jose's antics with Toronto and he certainly looked done last year after not looking so good the previous year either. So odds are he won't do good here, but given the history between AA and him he will get a shot. AA obviously hopes he can bounce back and give the Braves another power hitter to go along with Freeman.
