APRIL Minor League Player, Pitcher of the Month

MINOR LEAGUE PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Not anyone you’d expect, but it’s got to be 23-year-old Rome shortstop Riley Delgado. Drafted in the ninth round out of Middle Tennessee State last June, his first full pro season has gotten off to a sensational start.
Delgado, playing for the Class A Rome club, hit .360 for the month of April, driving in 20 runs in just 19 games. He cracked eight doubles and a homer and only struck out six times in 75 at-bats. He finished the month on a tear, driving in 11 runs in the last nine games.
Defensively, the Miami native was more than capable, committing only one error in the month as Rome had the only winning record in the system.
Delgado did not tip off he had such a big month in him last year, as he hit only .211 with no homers in 26 games last season.
MINOR LEAGUE PITCHER OF THE MONTH
Another less heralded player was the Braves’ Pitcher of the Month: 23-year-old Aussie left-hander Jon Kennedy.
The 6-foot-5 lefty was merely unhittable in eight games for Florida and Gwinnett (the latter a one-game rental), allowing zero earned runs in 17.2 innings. In fact, the only unearned run he allowed led to a loss as he posted a 2-1 record in the month. An imposing figure on the mound at 6-5, 215, he struck out 22 against five walks, all in relief.
Kennedy was a free agent signee for the Braves in 2016, and was one of their most versatile relievers in 2017 as he posted five wins and five saves in 39 games, all at Rome. All but one of his appearances this year have been for the Fire Frogs, but he was loaned to Class AAA Gwinnett the final week of the month, and the Melbourne native turned in a scoreless outing of 2.2 innings before being returned to Florida.

    CONTENDERS:
    Hitters:
Tyler Neslony (Mississippi) .330-0-13 in 24 games.
    Austin Riley (Mississippi) .310-4-13.
Jared James (Florida) .318-2-10 in 18 games.
    Pitchers:
Mike Siroka (Gwinnett) 2-0, 1.99, one CG shutout, 24 Ks in 22 IP.
    Bryse Wilson (Florida) 2-0, 0.45, 19 K, 13 Hits in 20 IP.
    Freddy Tarnok (Rome) 2-0, 0.00, 6 G, 11 IP, 6 H, 14 K (all in relief).

Is Delgado a legit prospect or is April just a BABIP driven fluke?

Maybe utility upside at best. He's 23 at Low A, so probably not much here. Two walks in 80 PAs.

I'll concede Riley was a logical choice but he's missed the last 3 games with an injury. Peterson's line for the month is .272-2-14. Good week, but slow start. This was a little more about giving a guy some recognition. Riley and Soroka are almost rubber stamp choices.
