Snitker has been loyal to the organization. I think he will do well as AAA manager.

I'm going to strike fear into all of you. For those of you who don't remember Dascenso as a player, he could really, really, really bunt well. Seeing how Fredi likes to bunt a lot, this only makes sense.

I always thought our pitchers sucked at bunting. He needs to focus on those guys.

The whole team pretty much does. Sounds like this might be a good thing.

Maybe Snitker going down is to prepare him to take Fredi's spot later.

He's already been the Braves' AAA manager though. He managed Richmond in 2006 before being promoted to Atlanta at the end of that season. Brundage replaced him.

This is a downgrade for him, not an upgrade, IMO. And a strange move at that, to me.

Not so strange; they demoted him, and he accepted it because it beats the unemployment line. Coaches don't make a lot of money and there's a lot more guys who can do it than there are Major League jobs.

Curious if there is a difference in pay with the change in roles. Snitker is an organizational guy. Moving coaching and managerial staffs around is pretty common at the minor league level, but it's not unheard of for guys move down from the big league coaching staff to a minor league managing/coaching position.

Dascenzo, in addition to being a two-time champion as manager, was the Braves' minor league baserunning coach the last two seasons. Perhaps you noticed they stole a buttload of bases this year.

Our problem isn't stealing bases, our problem is striking out too much.

We've always had a reputation for being a pitch to contact pitching staff, now we're a pitch to can't make contact lineup.

He will elevate Gattis to 1 SB. I guarantee it.

Seriously, Dascenzo's ability as a baserunning coach probably adds to his value as an educator. We had some noticeable baserunning lapses this year.

Not just stealing. Taking the extra base. Quickly reading whether the ball is going to drop or not. Getting good jumps. Sliding well. etc etc

Sliding is going to be on hte player. Can coach the player as much as you want, but Heyward and Simmons are always going to slide head-first to first base whether someone tells htem to or not.

We have some of the best baserunners in the league (Simmons, Heyward, etc).

The things you mentioned are fundamentals taught in little league.

I agree. And it is embarrassing that we do them (as a team) so badly.

I remember when Rob Dibble chucked a ball at him after he put down a successful squeeze.
