If he is not in the lineup tonight and Swanson is getting another day off, that is more than likely the plan. Bautista to play 3b tomorrow and Camargo at SS

Wow, what a game, what a series! The team is firing on all cylinders right now, and the starting pitching has been amazing. The Mets had all of 9 base runners in the last two games combined.

I mark Players of Game for every Braves win, and for the first 17 wins we had 17 DIFFERENT players get the PoG. Last night Newcomb got his second. Today, I am torn between Teheran and Markakis. Who would you pick?

Have to go with Teheran....coming off a short outing, he was able to give the main guys in the bullpen a day off

What should we make of Julio touching 90-91 today? Weather getting warmer? With a better fastball and his improved slider what are we looking at?

Yea, almost no hitting a team coming off injury is impressive. I was concerned he'd be back 100% and pitch a quality start and he pitched better than anyone this series. No offense to Soroka and Newcomb who were very good too. Soroka was great and didn't even have all his pitches working. Newcomb also didn't but he did get a crazy large strike zone which made up for that. Teheran was just outstanding today and that is good to see.

Julio was already touching 90-91 last month.

We have already discussed Julio's "stuff" adnausium.

Seriously, you dont have to over-hype every single positive thing that happens with the Braves.

Yea, which is why all I make of it is that Julio health is in order unlike last game. He had gotten hot and was pitching very well before injury effected his last game causing that short outing and velocity issues.

Teheran needs to lift some weights in the gymnasium.

Sounds like Dodger fans getting tired of Kemp on defense too:

    Big blue
3:57 How long of a leash does Matt Kemp have? Seems like there's some catchable balls he's missing
    Jeffrey Todd
3:58 Well the question is whether he gives enough with his bat to make up for what he gives back with his glove. So far, yes. But it'll be touch and go all year long, I suspect, and he's no shoe-in to keep a roster spot throughout the season.

Note, I haven't been following Kemp on defense much but this sounds like him. This is from MLBTR chat today btw

Seriously, I can’t believe NL teams are still employing Kemp.

The Dodgers apparently tried adding a prospect to trade him and some of what he is owed but found no takers. So I suppose they hope a good first half with the bat does the trick and then they trade him at the deadline. If so it still might take a pretty good prospect in the deal to get someone to bite, regardless how well Kemp hits.

If I was an AL team that needed offense, I’d jump on him for the right price. Dude can still hit.

True, he is 2-3 with a double today. Hitting .313 now. But his defense sucks so he needs a full DH role, even with the Dodgers taking him out early most game a la Tucker here (before Acuna) Dodger fans are still complaining about him not catching balls others would.

He's touched 90-91 in at least a couple other games.

As well as we pitched this series, I would add a caveat that the Mets lineup they ran out this series was straight trash. Not sure how they have won 17 games so far with that lineup. I am not sure I've seen 2 worse offensive catchers in my life than Nido and Lobaton, and we once employed Corky Miller.

Fried will be a TOR arm. And when that happens I don't expect you to admit you were wrong

That shortstop on the Mets was awful too, esp. that strikeout vs Viz in the 9th in game one. If he bunts those runners up, wild pitch scores one and groundout to short ties it. Not that Viz pitched bad, that inning was screwed over the missed pop up. Viz got charged a run that was really a misplay or error but since no one touched it they call it a hit.

Remember that time you claimed that most of your ridiculous predictions were 10 years ago?
