Tate and Carroll were Rule-5 eligible this winter so pretty much trading them for an asset now instead of losing them for nothing this winter.

Tate is like the 20th best prospect in our system and Rogers is a jag. Just remember how much we like prospects when Sam freeman serves up a homer pitching his 8th game is 10 days

    Umm, no.

Tate would slot in right after Allard in the Braves system.

Not in any list I’ve seen. Prospects can be polarizing. You’re either over valuing Tate or under rating allard there. Which is fine, to each their own

Really? Almost all sites have Allard as a low end 50 just outside the Top 100, and Tate as a high end 45. The Braves 45s are guys like Sanchez and Davidson, who aren’t exactly lighting it up this year.

Sounds to me like you’re simply overating Allard.

Nice to see the Yankees as the team getting bent over. Good return for Baltimore considering Britton didn't have much time to rebuild value coming back from injury.

    Good job AA.
For a guy who hasn't demonstrated he's back from injury no less.

    Talk about pressure to win.

    .....

If I'm the Mets, I pick up the phone and and talk DeGrom with them.

I think it was a good deal for Baltimore, but NYY didn’t get bent over.

I wonder if we are waiting for everyone else to make their move, then we swoop in and get the less expensive scraps

I would trade Allard but preferably for someone less injured with more control.

Pretty sure Allard isn’t the asking price in these deals- I think they want Ynoa, Touki, Wentz and Wright.. not to mention Pache and Riley

That’s exactly what we are doing...and I’m totally fine with that this year.

Well we certainly won't do a deal just to do a deal like you seem to be wanting. We won't do anything stupid. If we can get controllable assets that are quality then AA will deal... if not, we will wait for the off season. That's fantastic strategy for a team in our position.

I can't imagine the number of scouts who'll be watching Touki and Wright in their starts today. But it's good to want things.

Honestly, I could take or leave Britton. He would have been a nice addition, but as someone said above, he hasn't proven himself to be healthy and consistent. Tate is a solid arm, but has bullpen written all over him. He's not the same prospect as Allard. Herrera and Familia would have been nice and were basically given away. We're in a tight race where one game can mean making the playoffs or missing them. You never know how often you're going to get these chances again, even for a young team. My complaint is we're wasting time when every game matters.

Some of you guys are so terrified of losing a trade, but aren't afraid to complain about the team's deficiencies. Teixera happened 10 years ago. Time to move on.

again. only a few teams have made trades so far. most haven't. so this complaint would apply to most fans of most teams.

More than not...deadline trades end up going bad. A few hit the lottery, most do not receive the value they give away.

Hand... meet forehead... this has nothing to do with Teixera...

Have you seen the cost for Herrera and Familia (arguably better pitchers)? It's not Tex level one-sided obviously but the Yankees gave up substantially more value than any other rental closer that has been traded thus far. I realize you may not like Tate, but he's a good prospect with roughly the same value as Allard or possibly even Touki/Wilson depending on who you ask. And the relief prospect going the Orioles way isn't chopped liver. Probably similar in value to Minter a year ago.

k rate on all those guys gives them a bit better ceiling IMO than Tate.

Not sure why NYY wouldn't just promote the RP prospect for a shot and see how he works before pulling this trigger.
