someone needs to ask AA about flaherty. it's straight up dumb at this point.

Any actual MLB LHH would be an upgrade over Flaherty at this point, even if he can't play 3B. With Culberson on the roster listed as OFer, there isn't really a need for another 3b option.

Granderson might make for a nice bench bat, and he recently cleared waivers. I think the Yankees and/or Indians will value him more than the Braves since they could use him in the OF, while the Braves would only use him as a bench bat, but hopefully AA is checking on him.

Probably. Mind blowing the move hasn’t been made.

Ruiz has a .708 OPS in AAA. He doesn't belong on a MLB roster.

The Braves need an actual MLB quality LHH for the bench. Even Bour would have been acceptable.

i really, really wonder at this point if it has to do with Markakis and RF being buds. i can't fathom any other reason why he'd still be on the team.

That’s what the DL is for. See: Peter Moylan.

i wonder what flaherty would put up in the minors.
and to be fair, flaherty doesn't belong on a major league roster, either. i doubt ruiz would be a step down, and i think there's a reasonable chance he'd be a step up.

Well, yes, if the choice is Flaherty vs Ruiz you may have a point.

My opinion is that neither are options.

Rio is not the long term answer. But if used only vs RHP He would be better than current choice. He is .750+ vs RHP this year and higher for career.

Rio should be our upgrade until we get a better choice. He has options. Use them.

September is right around the corner. You know at this point the Braves feel like there's no point getting rid of anyone.

All good points, but we have GOT to do something.. I don't want this to cost us a game at some point. Someone get Cargo on the phone...

Wondering what kind of player a Newk Allard and Swanson package would get us this offseason

He was godawful platooning in majors.

He can still be a useful middle reliever. But asking him to pitch extended relief or start is probably a bit no at this point.

No way. At worst he’s a lefty arm who’s made it to the majors with 6 years of control and with no guaranteed money. A less competitive team would probably take him and put him in their rotation to let him take his lumps and see if they can make him a #3 starter eventually. If he can’t hack it he could be put in the bullpen. I think the move for the Braves is to move him before everyone knows for sure what Allard is.
