It absolutely could happen like you predict. No one has killed him yet at any level though, so I'm gonna believe in him until he gives me a reason not to

Go look at Fangraphs and look at how many successful pitchers in today's game who have under 7 K/9. You won't find any. However, as he ages his stuff could get better but right now he isn't ready.

It depends on what you are expecting. There are a number of guys in that general K/9 range that produced 2+ WAR in 2017.

Fulmer, Stroman, Cobb, Leake, Santana, Cobb. Many others hovering above 1 WAR.

It can work, but the margins are real tight.

I wouldn’t expect his stuff to improve too much but maybe sequencing, command?

I agree. I'm excited about him... of course, I am easily excitable when it comes to brave prospects

As big of a prospect that he is I think a 2+ WAR would be a huge disappointment. Sequencing along with command can improve and sometimes tweaking delivery can add MPH. If an older player like Charlie Morton can gain velocity it's possible that Allard can.

Any pitcher making it and becoming a league average starter is not going to be a huge disappointment.

I've seen a couple of Allard's starts this year, and he doesn't throw hard, but appears to locate fairly well, and can throw three pitches for strikes.

It's unfortunate...I look at someone like Tom Glavine and wonder if he could have succeeded in this baseball era.

As good of a reason as any to leave him down in Gwinnett, away from Chuckle K.

I think Peak Glavine could have; but I’m not sure he would’ve been given the opportunities to reach that peak, in today’s era.

Haha, yeah, I was saying that I wanted Soroka this year but wanted to see Hernandez fired first...oops. Although given who Soroka has been said to be (groundballer and control artist) you can make an argument he sadly is actually hurt and not harmed by Chuckie and was excited to be in the big leagues so he tried to pitch through it before telling someone.

I've wondered on Glavine too, he probably still has success but not HOF caliber success and maybe a quicker downturn.
Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.

Heyman’s latest column says Hernandez has as fired or believed he had been fired before Coppy went down.

Although the bust rate is quite high for a first rounder(over 70%) you don't go into the draft hoping the guy you pick becomes just an average player.

Of course not. Still I wouldn't say it's a huge disappointment considering he's never been an uber prospect.

    Ans. I like Cobb

I read the same article and found it very interesting.

This is an aside, Heyman seems like he’s completely phoned it in since he went to FRS. Most of his articles now are listicles about players he thinks could be traded and he assigns arbitrary odds for what teams he thinks will sign him. It seems few and far between where he actually shares insider information. It’s a shame too because I used to really admire his work.

To be fair, teams willingly give away first rounders for the right to pay average players eight figures. I would think any team outside of the top ten picks would trip over themselves rushing to pick a player who was a sure thing average player.

So true. His “inside mlb” notes crack me up. Half the time he’s just linking to articles written by other writers. Or he’ll say “Albies has been really good.”

It’s not inside notes at all, just him being lazy.
