Was at the game. Waters/Ramos/Contreras stand out. Waters is smooth out there.

    Some other observations:
Contreras has a cannon, but is still raw at times. He threw one into center field on a steal attempt. Might have been a little too amped. He called a good game and had good framing to my untrained eye. The starter (Javier) had some missed locations and walked a bunch of guys before giving up the big home runs. You can tell the tools are there for Contreras. He looks the part, very natural. His first hit was absolutely crushed on a line.

Waters is fast. And his swing looks simple and easy. He took good routes on the couple of balls hit to center, and was always positioning Ramos and Wilson in the outfield. He would have had 2 steals, but one was a passed ball by the catcher, and on the other the batter put the ball in play. He’s filled out some since I saw him last year at Suntrust. His first out was caught at the wall in centerfield, just missed it.

Ramos’ homer was a no doubter. Way gone. Was disappointed in his arm, though, on the one chance he had. Might have been a bad grip.

Delgado is smaller than I thought he’d be. He was quite generously listed at 5’10. Don’t think so. He did make all the plays and had a couple hits. One of his outs he went the other way to move Waters over to third from second.

Lugbauer looked lost at the plate. His hit was mashed, but his approach was Matty Diaz like. Hacking away. Hopefully I just caught him on a bad day.

Side note: the new SRP Park in North Augusta is really nice. Will be very happy to see the Rome Braves whenever they come to town in that place. The difference in the new stadium and the old is night and day and was needed.

Why every team in professional baseball doesn't have a game scheduled on Memorial Day is a real puzzler to me.
