He was sent back down and Bourjos was called up. The Braves also released Aaron Blair but are still paying for his rehab. Sounds like they may resign him after rehab is done to a minor league contract.

Nats are not an aggressive team, and they aren't very good vs LHers. This will be a good test for Newk.

If this is what we're going to see all game, it's a very good indicator that nothing has changed for Newcomb and he got lucky with aggressive teams.
Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.

Newk has been better this year, but nothing to me says he has fixed his mechanical/mental issues throwing strikes. He was still running way too many deep counts even when cruising.

And that's why you don't give up on newcomb as a starter... 2nd and 3rd with 0 outs vs this team with rendon having a 3-1 count... only 1-0.

I still think a sports psychologist could benefit Newk. He is great when he throws strikes consistently

if Rendon hadn't swung at ball 4 would have been bases loaded no outs

no chance.. he shows how good he is.. he just doesn't know how to throw it over the plate enough.

The braves need to hire the absolute best pitching coaches they can get to place from top down with all these pitching assets

Yep. However, with this strike zone the ump has I don't think Newcomb will have a very good night.

Albies is continuing to miss on pitches that he should get at of late.
